The beer poured from the can a crystal clear pale golden straw. The head was large and in charge. I was drinking from plastic so it is difficult to say how it would behave in lacing the glass, but it fell slowly so it probably would have done a good job.
The aroma was crisp and slightly malty. Much like a malty lager like an imperial pilsner or a maibock.
The flavor was malty and surprisingly sweet. Much like a bock beer. The sweetness is almost overdone, but there is just enough bittering to keep the sweetness in check.
The finish was crisp and just off dry. The body was medium, actually just a smidge more.
I had never had this beer before and only purchased it because of the 8.1% ABV and having seen a thread about it here on BA. I noticed that the bottle reviews are lower than the can. So my suggestion would be to try a can and to keep and opened mind. The alcohol never rears it's head in aroma or flavor and I never found it to become bad while trying it. Give it a whirl!
24 ounce can...a master cylinder. Date on bottom is steciled code 11014E70215. Purchased at Kroger in Blacksburg, VA. The can front says Fort Worth, but the side says Milwaukee, WI.
