From the 375 ml. bottle with a Best by 10/2015 date. Sampled on September 11, 2015.

The pour is a bright yellow color with a slight haze and a quick lasting white fizzy head.

I do pick up some coriander in the aroma along with toasted pale malts and crackers. But I also get a kind of musty-cellar note.

The body is medium.

The spicy pale malts play up big in the taste and the finish is mildly dry.

Light fluffy head, creamy, hazy golden yellow color.

Nose decent, grassy hay, wheat, creamy wheat, little toasted, weird herbal must grist, little orange citrus floral spices, very creamy wheat.

Taste brings mild sweet, creamy wheat, little grist, grassy hay, floral spices with mild phenols, fruity esters, citrus, orange zest, mild bitterness. Little sticky mostly dry finish, grassy, creamy wheat, little citrus.

Mouth med to lighter bod, creamy.

375ml bottle poured into tulip 31/8/15

A hazy milky yellow, just enough clarity to see a few streams of slow bubbles going up the side, just a short lived finger of foam that leaves no lace

S coriander, lemon, yeasty, lots of dry cereal, some floral notes, faint banana, just a hint of pepper, smells pretty good

T has some lemon lime thing going on that's almost Sprite like, still lots of grains, nice yeast strain but its hard to place, no complaints here

M light bodied but it explodes to foam in the mouth but settles quickly, a little slick on the palate, grainy lemon lingers

O smells and tastes solid but a little room for improvement in other departments, easy enough to drink though I have just a sip left at this point

A bit pricey in these parts and I don't see myself buying this one again with so many other options in the same price range

Incredible amount of head that leaves white lacing all around HefeWeizen glass. Slightly cloudy but gets very cloudy after the final pour. Lots of yeast in bottle. Smell is alot on the sour side. Taste tart and sour up front with mellow wheat aftertaste. Nice hints if coriander and lemon. Not too sour, just right. Enjoyable Farmhouse style Wit beer wish we can get this in Florida it would sell real well here. 4.50

Taste is lemon, coriander, straw, and funk. Taste is that of rich saison. While I have others that I prefer in the style, this one is certainly interesting. It makes me curious enough to explore the brewery's other offerings.

One of the best American made wits I have ever had, these guys are amazing, and I was very happy to see their beer on tap in Boston. Looks the part, hazy wheaty color, bright yellow, fluffy, and pretty intense on the nose. Limes and oats and European hops all sort of swirling around in the smell, with a funky yeast strain just short of wild in its makeup. The oats are a great addition to the white wheat base, giving body and it's characteristic sweetness to the mix, making it a rounder and longer experience. Maybe some Brett in this with the Belgian strain, lemon and lime notes hang on it, as do the hops. Very hard to place the slices in this, a get an almost rooibos tea thing, maybe ginger, but all so well incorporated as to not be easily identified in isolation. A bit tart for the second before all the grain flashes back in an neutralizes that. Carbonated very actively, and zesty and fresh in the finish, with a little more hops than normal for the style. A great evolution if the style, my first beer from these guys on tap, really awesome except it makes most other wits seem pedestrian...

Served in a small brandy snifter, cloudy, dark gold color. Rim bubbles and only a couple of spots on the glass for lace.

Farmhouse sour aroma.

Tart with a touch of sweetness. Lemony aftertaste. Full bodied. I don't pick up on any wheat.

375ml bottle - I can't say that it's not damned cool to suddenly see this brewer's wares on Alberta bottleshop shelves.

This beer pours a slightly hazy, but very bright pale golden straw hue, with one thick finger of loosely foamy, and generally frothy dirty white head, which leaves a bit of ancient French cave painting lace around the glass as it quickly dissolves.

It smells of semi-sweet, grainy pale malt, understated and yet stately yeast, well blended coriander and white pepper spice, subtle lemon rind, banana chips, and an earthy, weedy, and grassy hoppiness. The taste is sharp, grainy wheat malt, rainbow peppercorn, still respectful yeast, a morphing coriander/clove spice interplay, ethereal sugary lemon, pithy banana, and more plain, but dutiful earthy, grassy hops.

The carbonation is on the low and easy side as far as the fizzy and/or frothy assault on my tongue is concerned, the body an adequate middleweight, and more or less smooth, that heretofore placid yeast maybe trying to make itself heard, or something. It finishes off-dry, the laid-back wheat malt and swirling citrus and banana esters carrying the day.

A nicely engaging, hard to dislike witbier, I gotta say. I suppose I'm somewhat glad that a portion of my beer money here is a contribution to helping kids climb mountains, or some such thing. Anyways, worthy of a go, especially as the sun finally maintains some provenance over whether I choose to go outside or not these days.

Pours a light golden color with a large sudsy froth of white bubbles that stick to the glass well and has some staying power., The smell is earthy with some wheat and yeast elements.

Flavor has a nice balance of earthy bitterness, wheat and herbal notes. Not tart but far from sweet or bitter in the taste. Earthy, slightly funky farmhouse that drinks very easily.

Mouthfeel is smooth with sturdy carbonation and airy feel. Slightly dry and crisp and not heavy at all.

Overall, a solid Wit, Saison or Farmhouse ale, closer to an import than an average version brewed in the states. Quite nice.

Too light-bodied for my taste, not complex enough. It was pleasant and easy to drink, with nice lemony flavours at the start but finishes pretty thin. The coriander didn't come through very strongly (unfortunately). Decent but not exceptional.

A: The beer is clear light yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a short, bright white head that died down but never completely faded away.
S: Moderate aromas of coriander spices and lemon peels are present in the nose.
T: The taste essentially follows the smell, having flavors of lemon citrus along with notes of coriander towards the finish. No wheat flavors are noticeable.
M: It feels light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is very light and easy to drink, having both refreshing and thirst quenching properties.

750 ml bottle best before January 2013 (Ouch! Forgot about this one for a while). Poured into a DFH signature glass.

Appearance: Pours a golden yellow color with 3+ fingers of a white, soapy head with good retention. Body is clear with epic amounts of visible carbonation.

Smell: Spicy wheat, lemon, clove, spices, hint of banana.

Taste: Similar to the aroma. Lemon, milt tartness, wheat, grain, mild spices with maybe even hint of ginger and citrus/orange peel in the finish.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied, soft mouthfeel with medium, gentle carbonation.

Overall: Pretty good witbier. Nice tartness, not over spiced, and quite refreshing. Would drink again.

Very approachable farmhouse ale with a medium body, some citrus, and light lingering malt on the finish. My only complaint about this beer would be that it tastes flat, i.e. it isn't as refreshing or remarkable in flavor as other brews of this style.

Appearance - Pours a hazy straw yellow with a white, rocky 3-finger head that retains as well as any before finally reducing to a thick film of suds across the surface. Leaves large spots and streaks of lacing on the glass and with good stick.

Smell - Aroma hints at mildly tart lemon and wheat. Faint spice notes sit well beneath, but become more evident as the brew warms.

Taste - Follows suit with the nose; mild lemon tartness and a wheaty malt backbone. Restrained spice that hits mid-taste to deliver a touch of pepper, but ultimately falls flat.

Mouthfeel - Interesting body. Medium build with a light creaminess and low carbonation, then a bone dry finish. Maybe the best aspect of this brew.

Overall - A decent wit. Fantastic body, look and smell, but unfortunately the flavor misses the mark with a fairly mundane profile. I realize wits aren't aggressive in style, but this is about as reserved as wits get.

Poured a gorgeous cloudy, translucent golden yellow body with three fingers of fluffy, thick white head. A very true to form witbier and quite nice looking. Scents of orange zest and orange flesh, grainy, tangy wheat malt, fruity esters with an aroma of apricot juice, spicy yeast phenols, light notes of white pepper and a perfume-like coriander spiciness providing a true to style balanced spiciness. Overall impression is of a sweet, very fruity, citrus heavy witbier aroma profile with spiciness not being overwhelming, but contributing depth, complexity and balance. Very pleasant and mostly true to style. Flavor begins lightly tart with notes of orange zest and tart orange flesh, pleasantly and softly sweet malt and a light hint of coriander and white pepper. Sourness is of a lightly lactic-like sort, optional to the style yet quite pleasant. Middle is slightly tarter and drier, continuing the lactic-like sourness along with tart orange zest and flesh, a medium-light spiciness with notes of coriander, white pepper, a light wheat malt tartness and graininess. Light sweetness is still present and balances the tartness. Finish is lightly dry with light lactic sourness still present, as well as tart orange zest and flesh, grainy malt, light coriander and white pepper and softly sweet malt keeping it from being too dry. Aftertaste is tangy orange zest, white pepper, coriander and spicy yeast with a touch of grainy wheat malt. Overall impression of flavor is of a tart, orange zest and flesh forward flavor profile with a nice lactic character that is balanced by the softly sweet and grainy malt and the spiciness of coriander and yeast phenols. It is slightly drier than many example as a result, but still maintains a pleasant sweetness at a light level. A very nice witbier that does more than stick to the now standard flavor profile, yet still remains true to the spirit of the style. Mouthfeel is medium-light bodied with high, softly prickly carbonation and a tart, drying, lightly acidic, yet creamy feel. Overall impression of mouthfeel is of a wonderfully refreshing witbier that is very true to form and quite nice. Overall this is an excellent witbier. It has a lovely aroma that is very true to style and a flavor that diverges from style somewhat, but is pleasant and quite well done and still stays true to the spirit of the style. Mouthfeel is very true to form and aids the refreshing combination of flavors. Easily my favorite witbier and well worth trying.

On-tap at Bards & Brew in San Clemente and served in a goblet. On to the beer:

This white ale is actually quite bright in color with a bright blonde color. Solid head retention and lace as the beer goes down. The aroma is big on lemon, and is quite dry with some coriander notes. In fact, it smells like a saison crawled into this beer, and its taste follows a similar suite. It's a "funky" witbier, one with a big bite of tart lemon and subtle witbier characteristics throughout. It's light and refreshing, and a little different from the common drink per style.

Pours two fingers of head on a cloudy light straw colored body.
The aroma has honey and coriander upfront and dry grain in the background.
The taste is well balanced. Watery at first, honey sweetness in the middle, mild lemon bitter and finishes with a bracing tart.
The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation.
It's pretty good for a style that I don't usually enjoy.

Reviewing from notes after drinking on 3/27/2014. Enjoyed out of a brown 750 mL brown bottle with a standard cap; no wax enclosure on this one. Marked with a 'best by' date of September 2014, so plenty of time for this one before it's supposedly over the hill. Poured into a 16 oz nonic style tumbler--which is what I've always understood to be the "proper" glass for a witbier--in spite of the bottle's recommendation to use something more like a tulip glass.

Appearance - So far, so good. Standard pour reveals a healthy two finger head of bleached white suds with bubbles that begin to expand almost immediately, giving a webbed Swiss cheese look to the head with slight pocking up top. Beneath the head sits an ideally-colored sunny straw yellow body with a nice dusty haze that gives allows enough light to provide some spun gold highlights with the lemony body. Lacing is present, but light, with some faint sticky traces on the side of the glass.

Smell - Hrm, this is the first sign that I'm not going to love this one. I really like to get a sense of the spicing with wits, otherwise I'd reach for a hefe or a standard wheat beer. This one has some undertones of the citrusy coriander spicing, but they are taking a far backseat to what comes across to me as lots of bready, wheaty tones. On the positive side, I do get the more rustic notes of oat, which is a little different for a witbier and provides a focal point of interest. But really, I need more spicing from my witbiers.

Taste - The taste picks up where the nose left off, with the predominant characteristics coming from the grain bill. Wheat, oats, barley all provide for a rustic, alfalfa-esque characteristic to this beer. The citrus and spicing are very muted, almost nonexistent. I've never had a beer with "African" coriander to my knowledge--maybe it is a more subtle strain of the common wit spice? The other thing that is not working in this beer's favor is that it lacks the pinch of tartness that puts witbiers firmly on that line between sour and non-sour styles. Some of my favorite wits have just enough of a twinge of sour to make them interesting. Nothing that will pucker your tastebuds, just a subtle hint of that flavor profile. St. Bernardus does a good example of this tartness.

Mouthfeel - Pretty on par for what a witbier should be--light bodied and moderate carbonation, although perhaps a bit higher in CO2 than expected. Semi-dry finish.

Overall, I was actually really excited to try this based on my prior experiences with Logsdon. This one just doesn't really hit the mark for me as far as the style goes. I might feel differently had I not come in with witbier expectations, as it was a reasonably tasty beer in it's own right, just not good enough to wear the style that has been selected.

Poured from the bottle into an elongated tulip glass, which is as close to the glass recommended on the bottle.

Just an aggressive but in controlled wit. Deep lemon bright opaque yellow colored body, with lots of fine carbonation. A great foamy and bubble bath retention soaped up bleach thick white head, and whipped cream looking clumps and valleys. A few minor floaties in the body, but nothing too crazy. Impressive.

The bouquet is real nice even as it pours you can smell it. Deep notes of clove, and breaded toast. Sharp lemon like citrus and a good sense of yeasty bread dough. Quite nice, and a hint of grassed herb.

Palate comes a bit wet and overly carbonated. Much of the mid palate fills with a little bit of gas, but large sour bursts of citrus lemon juice. Bready depth and flavor hinted on the nose doesn't seem to translate as much on the finish either. Slight lemon soda fizzy, but not too bad.

It's a witbier alright but feels a bit dumbed down once you taste it. It's ok.

Poured into Lost Abbey tumbler.

Pours piss yellow, literally. Fluffy white head, massive carbonation bubbles streaming up from the bottom.

Aroma is very belgian wit like so the name is suited. Pale malts, coriander, lemon peel, faint banana, and faint clove. You also get a sweet citrus orchard smell, more mandarin like than orange.

Taste is classic to the style. You get the wheat, spices, fruity yeast esters, and slight mineral quality you get in the best belgian wits. Nothing stands out or is missing. A tasty brew.

Mouthfeel is light. Crisp, refreshing carbonation and finishes a bit bubbly.

Another awesome offering by Logsdon. Hard to find a better brewed "American" wit. That said, I'm more of a German wheat or hefeweizen fan than the belgian counterparts. Can't knock the beer for what it is though.

Really tasty witbier done to style. Not much on the phenolic nose. A little bit of fruit in the nose and on the palate. Juicy witbier with some balance from the yeast. Solid drinking beer that pairs well with food. Right up there with Allagash White. More depth and character than the Allagash.

The bottle was opened 03/02/14. Best by date is 09/2014

A: I poured this witbier into a small tulip, so there was some difficulty in swirling the bottle in order to include some yeast in the first glassful. Therefore, initially it was a clear golden color with a nice 1.5 finger white head full of small dense bubbles. After the first glass, which allowed for some room to swirl the bottle, the color went from a clear kristall to cloudy witbier. The head left nice lacing.

S: Tons of apple juice. Maybe a little hay or straw. I'm not finding much of the coriander, although it is there. I'm having difficulty getting through the apple juice.

T: It is rather delicate before the yeast is included in the pour. Once the yeast is included, there is some phenol spice, but not enough. Apple juice and some funk.

M: Medium-light. On the mark and really the highlight of the beer. Nice carbonation and some light creaminess.

O: I may be off the mark here based on the ratings of others, but I just couldn't get the apple juice flavor out of my head. It felt like I was trying to find a witbier in a glass of apple juice. I don't know. I know this one doesn't have the same rep as the Logsdon saisons, of which I'm a huge fan of the Logsdon Seizoen Bretta, but I thought it would have been better. I'll continue to try anything I can from these guys.

Bottle: Poured a super pale yellow color ale with a very large foamy head with perfect retention and incredible lacing. Aroma of light coriander with loads of dry Bretty notes with some wheat malt notes also noticeable. Taste is also dominated by a mix of coriander, wheat malt with loads of dry Brett notes. Body is light with incredible carbonation. Very refreshing with bone dry finish.

750ml poured into a cervoise. The brew appears a clouded light yellow color with a frothy white cap that stands nearly 3 fingers strong. The cap fades leaving a sudsy full wall of lace on the glass. Overall, she looks perfect for the style.

The aroma is zesty with lemon-like coriander, wheat, sulfur and some earth. There is quite a solid yeastiness to this brew. As it warms up, a little pepper and clove comes through.

The taste is mutually yeasty with an earthen feel. Lemon-like coriander, sulfur, clove and pepper are all noticed mid-palate. Lightly straw-like and grassy into the finish. As it warms up, mild fruit suggestions like pear or apple skins come out in a very subtle way.

This is a light bodied brew with a modest level of carbonation. It is an easy going wit that isnt too shabby but isnt really memorable either. As it breaths, it gets a little soapy which I didnt care for.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 2/2014. Big gusher upon opening, but didn’t lose any of it. Pours very hazy golden amber color with a 3 finger dense and rocky white head with incredible retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings around the glass, with a large amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big lemon, pear, apple, apricot, grape, coriander, clove, pepper, wheat, bread, oats, herbal, grass, musty funk, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast ester and malt notes; with good strength. Taste of lemon, pear, apple, apricot, grape, coriander, wheat, bread, oats, clove, pepper, herbal, grass, musty funk, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of lemon, apricot, light fruits, coriander, pepper, clove, wheat, bread, oats, herbal, grass, light funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, malt, and spice flavors; with a great malt/spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with very smooth, crisp, fairly creamy, and moderately prickly mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a really excellent witbier! All around great complexity, balance, and robustness of flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
