Our organic red ale is brewed in traditional West Flanders style. A combination of light, crystal, and dark barley malt, wheat, and oats are brewed with local whole-cone hops and a variety of select yeast and lactic bacteria. We age our red ale in oak barrels for a period of time to develop complex richness, soft tannins, and fruity tart character. The aged beer is then blended with young beer to create the desired balance of malt sweetness with a dry finish.

Red color, an evanescent foam.
Tart smell, flemish red-like, red fruit, a bit on the sweet side.
Not bad, it lacks some deepness.
Taste too, pleasant, drinkable, but a bit sweet.

Small sample from bottle, at a 4th of July tasting. Gusher bottle, like every beer I’ve had from Logsdon. The remaining contents were nice though - a fine Flemish Red from Oregon, with aroma and flavour typical for the style. Might well sample again.

Old bottle (BB 09/19) bought on deep discount. Popped it open and it fsshed perfectly. Red amber with large head that fizzes off after a while but leaves a perfect fine internal carbo. Aroma of wood and red wine and sour cherry. Very dry light cherry tangy sweet and sourness. Very dry woody finish with light herbal. Light fine body. FUCKING FANTASTIC!

Dark reddish chestnut tone, ample foam but no lace.
Mild funk and lactic acidity in the aroma, musty wet barrel.

Tart and acidic, lactic acid and cherry skins, light oak in the dry aftertaste.
There is some character from the malt, wheat, and oats used, though the acidity sort of obscures it. Touch of bell pepper, apple butter, cider vinegar.
Medium bodied, flavors fade fairly quickly due to the prevalent lactic acid scrub. Ample carb, everything is in order style-wise.

It’s decent, and probably more historically authentic than most sugar-addled Belgian examples these days. Worth a try if you’re a big Flemish Red fan, otherwise it’s not essential.

On tap at the pour Taproom in Greenville, SC.
Reddish brown body with a fine textured beige head. Good retention.
Excellent, style-consistent, aroma and flavor. Moderately tart. Relatively clean for style with nice ad wood notes and hints of soft ripe fruits.

A: Rich caramel malts, slightly sweet, with baked cherries, slight earthiness, tart, with light vanilla and wood.

A: Brown color with a copper hue, with a thin slightly uneven off white head that has adequate retention.

T: Complex caramel malts, moderately light baked cherries, slight malt sweetness, lingering tartness with light oak and dry finish.

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation and slightly smooth mouthfeel.

O: Solid; the beer has a great rich malt aroma and flavors that complement the cherry and stone-fruit character. Fairly complex and tasty.
