Notes/Commercial Description:
Our organic Oak Aged Bretta is made with our Seizoen Bretta that is aged for a period of time to develop the wood aged character in the beer. Oak Tannins, vanilla notes and subtle smoky spiciness soften and mellow this beer over time.

The aged unfiltered beer is refermented and carbonated in the bottle with select yeast strains to provide added dryness and complexity, then sealed with beeswax for additional aging. Store bottles upright in a cool dark place and enjoy for many years in a proper glass.

Appearance: After the anticipated gushing, I was able to capture a bit more of this beer; peach nectar on the pour with a modest head (once the gushing was over) plenty of lacing from the initial gush

Smell: Crusty bread, pear, must, strawberry, watermelon, leather, vanilla and oak

Taste: Acetic tones kick off the fruity flavor parade, with pear, peach, strawberry and vanilla; in the middle, the oak and leathery brett make their entrance, with the unusual touch of watermelon arriving in the finish; nice funk in the aftertaste

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Another massive gusher from Logsdon so I have to ask why a brewer who has been in the yeast business cannot better manage quality control; I wish I could be more enthusiastic but losing at least half a bottle at these prices is a real issue; the beer is a good one and I prefer this to the regular Seizoen Bretta; there is a lot going on and I hope the carbonation issues are kept in check for future releases

750 ml bottle best by June 2019. Served in a wine glass.

Appearance: Pours a copper orange color with 2 fingers of a creamy off white head that settles to a thin coating. Body is very hazy but translucent.

Smell: Lots of brett, pineapple, spice, banana, oak, honey and some hay.

Taste: Red apple, pear, citrus, mild spicy saison yeast character, banana and a touch of white grape in the finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a soft mouthfeel and medium, fine carbonation. Finishes tart and dry.

Overall: Another really good beer from Logsdon. Definitely worth trying, but at around double the price, it's not really an improvement over their regular Seizoen Bretta.

750ml bottle into tulip. Best by 03/2018.

A: Opened cold out of fridge to avoid inevitable gushing. I still had the crack the cap very slowly – this beer is volatile. Anyways, this beer pours a cloudy burnt amber color with a huge, frothy, active, and fluffy, cream colored head that, despite a slow pour, still foamed up and filled the glass. Huge chunks of rocky lace were left down the glass as the head eventually faded.
S: I get tons of brett on the nose, with scents of stone fruits (peach/apricot), straw/hay, and a touch of tart kiwi, and golden delicious apples. The oak is right there as well with hints of vanilla and woody spice. This beer smells amazing.
T: Brett flavors from the nose, mild spice, black pepper, woody oak, and golden fruits. Juicy overall. There are notes of wheat, earthy hops, and very mild savory smoke in the finish, and the aftertaste is dry, slightly bitter, earthy, and just a tad funky.
M: Medium-full body, greasy and slick mouthfeel with a drying finish (but not a desert), and soft and fluffy carbonation. Drinks well.
O: Insane nose and flavor. The brett and the oak mix expertly well together. Complex and quaffable.
