Notes/Commercial Description:
Our organic Oak Aged Bretta is made with our Seizoen Bretta that is aged for a period of time to develop the wood aged character in the beer. Oak Tannins, vanilla notes and subtle smoky spiciness soften and mellow this beer over time.

The aged unfiltered beer is refermented and carbonated in the bottle with select yeast strains to provide added dryness and complexity, then sealed with beeswax for additional aging. Store bottles upright in a cool dark place and enjoy for many years in a proper glass.

Blind BIF Beer #4

We had a good idea that this was a Logsdon due to the bees wax. I have had the Oak Aged Bretta, Seizoen, and Seizoen Bretta recently, so I was determined to get this one right.

Huge frothy head. Familiar saison smell.

Nice golden red appearance.

Weak slightly old smell.

Smooth good initial taste but aftertaste is stalebreadish poor. This has a very slight oak taste, which I remembered from the Oak Aged Bretta, so that was my guess.

Reveal: Correct! (Thoughts: good I got one right, now I can stop thinking so hard).

Shared a taster on-tap as past of a flight at the brewery; Logsdon Farmhouse Ales, Hood River, USA. As part of a six-week West Coast beer tour. I rate to taste, not to style. See my blog for more details: carbeers.wordpress.com

Bottle # OAB 2013

Appearance. Pours a hazy copper-gold topped with two fingers of cream coloured head.

Smell. Nice funky brett, honey and sweet light malts, some citrus fruits and fresh oak, and maybe a bit of melon.

Taste. Tons of toasted oak, funky brett and orchard fruits, citrus fruit flesh, light peppery spice, low level of sourness, and a bit of sweet and smooth light malt. Very nice.

Mouthfeel. Medium body, medium+ carbonation.

Overall. Great stuff.
