This stout beer was brewed with cocoa, multiple yeasts, finished with strains of Brettanoymces, and then keg conditioned with pear juice.

A: My first pour of the day looked like chocolate milk because the keg was disturbed. My second pour yielded a cleaner, dark brown color with a light tannish colored head

S: Crazy. Funky tart cocoa is the best way to describe it.

T: My taste buds have never experienced this before. Big cocoa upfront then a rush of funk and lacto like presence. A bit of green apples and pears underneath along with some wood and Earthiness. Funky meets tart while the cocoa just keeps on coming. A little bit of roastiness on the body is a treat and helps to further confuse yet educate the palate. The finish was lingering tartness

M: Medium bodied, dry, well carbonated, nice creamy yet tart finish. Pretty interesting mouthfeel indeed.

O: Very good. This beer took many components I never thought would work and made it happen. Great stuff.

Commercial Description:
Cocoa-Bretta is an organic collaboration cheer that combines Bison Brewing’s award winning Chocolate Stout and Logsdon Farmhouse Ales’ Bretta. This stout beer was brewed with cocoa, multiple yeasts, finished with strains of Brettanoymces, and then keg conditioned with pear juice.

Black, with a foamy, light tan head.

Cocoa and lightly tart, fruity notes.

Tart, lightly fruity notes blend into cocoa and lightly roasted espresso.

Medium body, foamy, fizzy carbonation.

A very unique beer. It reminds me of a dessert of dark chocolate and tart fruit. The two components really complimented eachother, with the body just a tad fuller than what I would expect in the regular Seizoen Bretta, which helped to keep it drinkable.
