I've liked all of their "bottled" offerings so far. However there is something missing with this. It's trying to be a wild ale but it falls short. Faint aroma of Brett and very little barnyard. Meh.

On tap. Poured out a clear, golden orange color with a small, white head of foam. It smelled of green apple, lemon and toasted caramel. Tart lemon and sour apple taste with hints of cherry. Some sweet caramel.

a couple of years old now, this is a 100% brett fermented beer in chardonnay barrels. it tastes both a little old and a little amateur to me, not a mature dry funk but a weird tired yeastiness that i would not describe as excellent. all of the brett beers i have had since this one from martin city have been superior to it, i think it was one of their first in the style, and its evident that they have learned a thing or two from making this one. a little flat from the bottle, hazy pale orange, hardly any head at all. aroma and flavor are bretty, but its got a doughy quality, some oxidation, and less of the fruity or the rustic saison elements about it, kind of dirty tasting. the oak and the wine aspect are nice though, and there is some tartness here that brings the wood and the wine out a little bit. i bet if they make this again though it will be a way better beer, something about the brett just tastes a little off to me, could be a product of its age i suppose, but that would be new to me. at this point, this isnt doing so great.

A: Cool looking label. Bottled June 8, 2015. Head almost non-existent a few seconds after pour.
S: Reminds me a lot of Boulevard's Love Child. Funky with a faint bit of sour.
T: Not as funky as the nose. Faint barnyard and sour, pretty juicy.
F: Feels a bit thin with lack of carbonation. Also acidity of the brew hitting my stomach a little harsh.
O: Had a pour of this from a Martin City rep at a tasting a few months ago. Enjoyed it. Picked up a 750 on sale for $10 at local store. Digging it less now. I think this one might have passed the turning point in terms of benefitting from cellaring. Wouldn't pick up another at this relatively high price point.

Bottled 8- -15

Bright golden orange, sharp clarity, spotty lace.
Lightly cheesy aroma, citrus peel.
Tart fruity citrus, lemon and grapefruit. Dry aftertaste.
Medium bodied with crisp carb, light Brett funk.
Overall it's pretty good, maybe a year in the bottle was a good thing.

Brett beer from Martin City that quite possibly is their best wild in my opinion. They crushed it with this one. Explodes with juicy, spicy flavors. Drinks very easy.

$12 for 750 ml
