Fischman's is basically your standard, old school liquor store that has a solid craft beer selection at good prices. Sometimes I don't want to talk to an employee about what's new (won't happen here) i just want to run in and grab a six pack from a good selection (happens and be gone (happens here). I usually stop in here on my way to go shoot some pool.
There's really not a whole lot to say about this place except they have a solid selection at reasonable prices. If you're in the area it's worth a stop, if you're not in the area there's better liquor stores around the city. There are some things floating around on the shelves here that have been sold out at other, better known stores.

Fischman's is a gem. Bottle shop and bar with good taps in one location! Sign me up(plus it also helps that I live in the hood). The bar has great events(usually with food trucks). And the shop has a fantastic bottle selection(and they don't gouge ya). And most importantly, they handle special releases the right way.

Last reviews are from 2011?? Wake up beer geeks! This place is a diamond in the rough for craft beer lovers on the NW side. Friendly/knowledgeable staff, and 20+ taps of some really quality stuff. Atmosphere is nothing fancy but you're not here to critique the wallpaper. Add a retail side of the premises with a limited but stellar few rows of beer/wine/spirits; 2013 expansion plans; and events where they'll tap a list of smaller batch brews from a specific brewery or region and you have yourself a winner with this place!
Update: Atmosphere on the rating page is listed as "vibe" in the actual review. Maybe it's just semantics but up'd my review .5 point as I think the place has a solid vibe.

went to this place for the first time on 10/24/11 was really happy with the selection and pricing.
They had all sorts of good stuff including founders breakfast stout, a bunch of 3 floyd's, Brooklyn chocolate stout, two brothers, southern tier & Mikleller.
Kind of located in the middle of nowhere. They also have a bar attached to the liquor store that has all sorts of nice beers on draft. All at very reasonable prices as well.
Anyone who is in the Chicago land area and looking for a really nice craft beer selection I would recommend giving this place a try.

Recently found my Founders Devil Dancer here. Called up for the first time ever and Carlos answered the phone. He was extremely helpful and pleasant and agreed to put the last 4-pack on reserve for me.
When I showed up with my brother-in-law the plan was to run in, grab the beer and pop out, but upon entering I was catch by the big craft beer aisle. I ended up picking up a couple of bombers of Two Brothers Hop Juice, a Stone Ruination and Chocolate Yeti Stout from Great Divide.
When I went to check out Carlos immediately turned around to grab my 4-pack of Founders and then chatted with me for a few minutes about beer. It was an unusually great liquor store experience and I did not expect to find that at Milwaukee and Lawrence.
To top it all off a bar is attached to the store and when we wandered in there ordered a couple Firestone Double Jack IPAs. They were poured in 20oz. Imperial pint glasses and cost a staggeringly low $5 each.
This place is great. Check it out soon.

2013: Been here a number of times... Store selection has always been great. In general though, the staff doesn't really know much about the beer. Often times, new releases are sitting around in cases on the floor, and aren't in the system/for sale, so i'll just wind up buying them elsewhere.
The bar is a real no-frills dive full of townies, and I enjoy dive bars, but this one doesn't offer much besides a good beer selection. Never felt compelled to stick around for a beer here after stopping in the store. The food truck events are a better time to go, with a more diverse crowd (not exclusively old drunks). Sought after beers on their printed list always seem to be tapped out in person, and draft prices have crept up.
The place is great on paper, but can be hit or miss in my experience. A good local spot for Jeff Park locals, not really an all-city destination. They sure did hire some slick marketing though.
If you can't justify a "5" with an actual review, don't bother. Phony accounts created to boost ratings is nothing new, and it's a painfully obvious sign of desperation.
Stopped in here today after passing by and remembering seeing it on beermenus. It's a small liquor store with an adjacent "tap room" bar (sadly a dying breed in Chicago, one with any good beer is especially rare). Walking by the bar, the front windows were open and there was an island bar in the center with seating on all sides. 4 clusters of taps around the bar, the one closest to the window had Firestone Walker Double Jack and Lagunitas IPA.
Inside the store, beer coolers with craft bombers were the first thing on the left, lines from Stone and Three Floyds including Dreadnaught and Blackheart. The aisle on the left side held all the beer, a broad selection focused on US craft on the warm shelves. Full lines from Victory, Bells, DFH, Goose, FFF, Founders, Half Acre (x6), Metropolitan, Southern Tier, Two Brothers, recently arrived Boulevard, Green Flash, Uinta, even Madrugada Obscura (in a corner liquor store!?). A few quality imports including Mikkeller, Chimay, Hitachino, Unibroue. Overall a very respectable selection in this small shop. There were written signs mentioning they will special order beers if you ask. Behind the counter on a high shelf was Infinitum, Ovila, and Old Curmudgeon. Cashier was friendly enough, but generally they lack any beer knowledge.
For the Jefferson Park area, there's not much in the way of beer bars or decent stores. WFM Sauganash is over 2 miles away, Golden Leaf Liquor is even further. Fischman's kills 2 birds with 1 stone with a great craft beer store & tap room combo.
Sweet FFF mural around back:
