4.3% ABV. .5L aluminum gold-colour can acquired at a Picadilly supermarket in Sofia, Bulgaria, and served into a Staropramen pilsner glass in me friend's gaff in Sofia. Reviewed live. Expectations are average.

Served cold. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.

No bubble show forms as it's poured.

HEAD: Two finger wide head of white colour. Not as thick as would be ideal. Lacks sufficient creaminess. Decent complexion and consistency. Spotty lacing sticks to the sides of the glass as the head recedes. Above average retention (~3 minutes).

BODY: Clear pale yellow colour. Clean; no yeast particulate or hop sediment is visible. Average vibrance.

Appears adequately carbonated. Far from unique or special. Looks below average for the style.

AROMA: Overly sweet generic malts. Clean barley. Some grains. I almost think I'm picking up on some adjunct - corn, perhaps?

Definitely too sweet. And there's no balancing hop character to be had.

No alcohol, off-notes, or spices are detectable.

Overall, it's a fairly pleasant aroma of average strength. I'm indifferent.

TASTE/TEXTURE: Overly sweet generic malts. The adjunct I thought might be there doesn't manifest in the flavour, but I do get some unwelcome graininess. No real hop profile is noticeable. Not really balanced, but then I suppose it's unbalanced, not imbalanced - if that distinction means anything to anyone.

No alcohol, off-notes, or spices come through.

Painfully simple. Lacks intricacy, nuance, subtlety, and complexity.

Smooth, wet, fairly clean, unrefreshing, overcarbonated, and light to medium-bodied. Okay thickness. Doesn't really suit the flavour profile all that well.

Not oily, gushed, hot, boozy, astringent, or harsh.

OVERALL: Downable but completely unremarkable. I can't say I'm a big fan, and I wouldn't recommend it to friends, but it's decent. A respectable budget beer, but it won't impress the discerning drinker.

Decided to revisit this beer, this time from the bottle. I've had it a few times before...

Appearance: Poured from the 1 liter bottle into a large mug. The beer is a pure golden color, topped with a pure white 2 finger thick foam.

Smell: A touch of honey atop some light bready malts.

Taste: Nicely balanced up front with a grainy slightly bready malt character and a twinge of hops. The label advertised Hallertau hops. There is a slight fruitiness going down that leaves a pleasant finish.

Drinkability: This is a very drinkable beer, and one of the best of BG's light beers.

Notes: Perhaps there was a problem with the canned version in my previous review. I have to say, that for BG this is a pretty good beer, and might actually be technically a different style than Euro Pale. I say this because it seems to have some taste to it. Either ignore the can review, or just buy the bottles.
