The 150 prohibited , a Black Imperial IPA . The selection of malts, its long boiling and hopping to 60 seconds are slowly roasted notes offrentdes where hops charmed by their bitterness and flavor profile , all on a nice roundness .

L: Fairly black. A one finger cap of off white head tops the beer. Retention was good, as was lacing.

S: A little bit of hops. Some dark malt. Alcohol, caramel sweetness.

T: Not that much hops although I do get some. Maybe a bit earthy/citrusy. Caramel come through pretty strong. There's also a light toasty element. I'm not really getting any roasted barley which is nice; a black IPA should not be a hoppy stout - they got that right. Alcohol is pretty well hidden. Balanced properly for a BIPA

F: Body is somewhat dry, but I still get left with some sticky lips. Carbonation is decent.

O: Not a bad beer, just not something I'd drink again. It could use a hop boost honestly. Perhaps I drank it too late. That being said, I don't think I'll revisit it but would not reject it if offered.

Picked 2 bottles drank one and decided to age this one due to the alcohol content (11.00%.) First this beer is an Imperial Black IPA. Tasting notes from two years ago state this beer is Hot on the alcohol, very malty and Hops are very muted. This time around,

A - Dark black pour. Carbonation is spot on allowing for a creamy beige head. Lacing on the glass

S - Dark malt, alcohol, caramel and chocolate.

T - Somewhat sweet, Chocolate, Caramel and coffee, and a faint mint.

M - Good carbonation, Thick and sticky.

O/D - Solid, very happy that I was able to drink one and age one, I would say this one was much better aged.

Very dark color with only a bit a light shining through along the edge. Modest head which leaves no bubbles.

Darker malt nose than most DIPAs. Surprisingly low hop nose, but I can detect plenty of alcohol. Based on the smell, I'm not sure what to expect.

Starts off quite sweet as if the beer is over malted. There's a bit of bark to the taste. The alcohol comes in really strong, but the hop is quite muted--present but strictly for balance. This is a sipping beer....very slowly. Very rich in body as well as taste. Relatively low carbonation.

Bottle from a dep in Gatineau.

A - Black pour obviously. Good carbonation coming up to a thick, creamy beige head. Good lace rings and a film of retention.

S - Minty, chocolatey, lime, herbal.

T - Minty again with chocolate, roast, heavy malt, lime notes. I interpret the flavour as mostly minty or wintergreen.

M - Good carbonation, maybe a bit strong for the style, full body, wintergreen bitterness to finish.

O/D - Good, not great. The mint note really dominates and takes away from the flavour profile of this guy. Good effort, but nothing to write home about.

Nice black colour that seems to draw in the light around it...decent lasting head. ..mocha in colour.

Very sweet smelling...some hoppiness but overwhelmingly sweet...indicating the strength of the beer.

Bitter sweet....coffee and chocolate notes....alcohol burm finish.

Mouthfeel very thick and unfiltered.

Overall...a very good beer that you would be hard pressed to drink all night as its so strong in alc and flavor. ...very nice.

Pours an opaque dark brown with a thin mocha head. Aromas of red fruit peels, mint, and chocolate. Tastes are of red fruit, mint, Christmas spices, and alcohol. Overall this tastes like a spicy Christmas beer, and there is a definite alcohol burn build up in the back of the throat. A good one-shot try but probably not one I would buy again, especially with that crazy 11% abv.

The beer color is black, a little dark but not like a big stout... more in line with a robust porter blackness. Nice beige/brown head that disappear quickly.

The aroma shows some roasted malts with pine hops. I get some menthol notes... very faint, but it adds something to the smell. The taste is quite similar to the aroma. Nice taste. Like it. Its smooth but also pretty aggressive. A little warmer beer to sip during cold winter nights.

A nice one.

Bottle: Poured a dark deep black color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of dry roasted malt with some dry bitter hoppy notes. Taste is also dominated by a quite dry malt backbone of dry roasted malt with some dry bitter hops and quite a bit of warming alcohol. Body is bot as full as I would have expected with good carbonation but surprisingly too much alcohol is noticeable. I must admit that I was disappointed by the overwhelming dryness which veers into astringency territory with way too much alcohol perceptible.

A: Pours pitch black with a good head with really good retention. Lacing is not really there but the alcohol legs are obviously strong. Head is mocha and really creamy looking.

S: You really get the hops aroma right off the bat. You get some apple and lemon juice, lime peel and some herbal notes. There is also quite a good amount of maltiness in this one which is expected at the 11% ABV. You get a good amount of sweetness and obviously chocolate and a light anount of coffee.

T: Weirdly balanced. It's at the same time very sweet and very bitter. Lots of malty sweetness and lots of chalky bitterness which makes it pleasant but quite unbalanced. Overall, you get the same notes than in the smell so apple and lemon juice, lime peel, chocolate and slight amounts of coffee.

M: Very heavy and thick. Quite sticky too.

O: This is a really decent beer. Nothing to get super excited about but something to try out since not a lot of brewery try this style around this region. Still, Dunham does a much better black IPA with less ABV, so myah.
