Need to preface this review with the fact that I'm not traditionally a huge fan of the style.

Look - pitch black colour, with a 1/2" caramel head
Smell - coffee, with a very roasted malt/toast aroma
Taste - lightly sweet start, notes of chocolate and coffee, dry and bitter finish
Feel - medium body/creaminess

Very pleasant and drinkable porter

Pitch black with a small head. Amazing smell, dark chocolate, coffee and roasted malts in the nose. Same flavours are present in the mouth too, with some black licorice also. Really creamy , really pleasant to drink.

Very good porter with nice roasted coffee flavours. This beer was one of the first porter style beers I had and it made for a pleasant first experience.

App: Brownish black with ruby red tint. Creamy tan, 2 fingers head.

Smell: Bready, fresh dough, cocoa, molasses, toffee, some fruity bananas n cloves notes from the yeast, roasted grains, nuts, coffee with a bit of smoke (or charred) and licorice.

Taste: Baked bread, cracker, roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, a bit of black licorice, a bit of charred, very pleasant and not overwhelming, with an herbal and earthy finish.
Light medium mouthfeel and a very nice creamy body. Medium carbonation.

Well balanced. Everything is meshed together nicely. Great drinkability. Very sessionable. You cant really go wrong with this one. Very enjoyable experience. Will i buy again? Yes. I recommand it.

One finger cap of beigeish/brown head. Deep brown, bordering black, with ruby red highlights. Malty aroma. Chocolate, slightly nutty, and more fruity that i would have originally expected. Carbonation may be a bit "bitey" for and English style porter but the body is nice and creamy. Pretty straight forward very approachable, very drinkable. This is what a porter is supposed to be.

Appearance: It has a nice deep brown (almost black) color to it. It has a nice dark beige head that dies down moderately and leaves really nice lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of sweet roasted malts, some coffee and faint chocolate. Not a whole lot going on.

Taste: Like the aromas, it has some sweet roasted malts, bitter coffee and dark chocolate.

Mouthfeel: It has a medium carbonation with a nice overall balance and feel.

Drinkability: It's a smooth drinkable beer accompanied with decent flavors and aromas.

A:
Pours a really dark, murky brown with tinges of red in the light. Two inch tan head gradually dissipates leaving a thin even coating with good lacing.

S:
Roasted nuts, lime, chocolate.

T:
Surprisingly sour. Strong tea, lime and dirt.

M:
Real thin and fresh tasting up front, some carbonation and a soft, warm finish.

O:
Pretty alright. Tastes different than other porters I have had. Really prevalent sourness. It isn't awful but it is not what I expected at all. I wondered if it was past date but no one marked the date (there are just intact numbers). I prefer a porter to taste different than this but it has a sticker that says "WBA World Beer Awards: World's Best Stout and Porter PORTER" so maybe I am used to having American Porters?? Who knows, I would have it again but I wouldn't actively seek it.

Bottle: Poured a dark color porter with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light dry bitter coffee notes with some roasted malt. Taste is a mix between some roasted malt notes with light dry coffee and some black chocolate notes. Body is about average with a somewhat creamy texture and some good carbonation. Cereal notes are a bit off but overall this is a pretty standard rendition of the style.

The beer is black in color with some redish notes on the edges. The head is timid... I'm generous when I say there is a head :) it is there but for a couple of seconds then it's entirely gone.

The aroma is chocolaty with some coffee grains. Pretty simple for the aroma. In the mouth, it is still chocolate. I do get some car Elle notes in the mouth. The bitterness is similar to the one you get when from coffee grains. Quite effervescent in the mouth... A little bit thin bodied.

The bitterness is low in intensity. A good porter... But not the best one I've had.

Quite easy to drink too. Session porter I would guess.

500mL bottle.

Pours a black color with a thin head which disappears quickly leaving limited lacing on the glass. The aromas are very discrete. I pick out roasted malt, some hop and subtle notes of chocolate. Nothing more shows up in the taste. Mouthfeel is also a bit disappointing. In my opinion, the carbonation is too high and the body is too thin.

Having said that, this beer is not a horrible example of the style, just an average porter which would benefit some adjustments in the recipe to get a smoother mouthfeel and some more complexity.
