If you could define comfortable, this is it. Food is good and the tap selection is decent. They always have lil sumpin sumpin on tap along with a variety of other taps. This place defines comfortable, I would definitely recommend any of their daily specials,.

Welcome to another richmond bar as far as atmosphere, too many people in too small of a building with too few people working. I mean that as a compliment. This is the best combination of value and beer selection on draft in the city, and you're not going to find a better happy hour in the city. My go to whenever possible. Cheers.

Cozy bar/restaurant in the middle of a lazy street. Inside was a ruckus that was the Sunday brunch crowd. The place was crowded w/o being claustrophobic. The service was friendly & fast-paced, keeping up w/the constant crowd. There was always someone dancing around the room either refilling peoples drinks or serving food.

This place is obviously known for it's food and the menu has something for everyone. They also serve breakfast all day long which I'm a fan of. The food in short was great.

What's surprising is that this place boasts a 22 tap lineup w/a complimentary bottle list. Both the tap & bottle lists leaned heavily towards American craft beers w/an emphasis on VA brewers. They also had a sweet happy hour w/all taps being $2.50 during weekday afternoons.

Overall, I can definitely see myself going back there. If I lived in RVA, it would be a place I would be a frequent visitor to.

Joe's Inn is a bar/diner/restaurant located in the Fan. Joe's has two sides, one side is a bar the other is more of a restaurant. The bar actually allows smoking after 10pm, which makes it unique in the Richmond area. Joe's Inn has arguably the best happy hour in Richmond. From 3-6:30 Joe's offers all beers for $2. With 20+ taps of high quality draught craft beers, you can see why this is hands down the best happy hour.

A: The atmosphere at Joe's is a pretty upbeat. The bar side tends to attract more of the hipster crowd and the smoking crowd late night. The restaurant side is much more of the couples/family side. I have no problem with either side, and if you're going for the beers, then I'd recommend the bar side. During happy hour, the bar can get pretty crowded because so many people want to enjoy the great happy hour deals.

Q: The quality of beer at Joe's is fine. I've had both draught and bottled beer here and I've never run into a skunked beer.

Serv: The service at Joe's is usually very friendly. The bartenders and servers have a slightly above average knowledge of beers and are very capable of handling the large happy hour crowds. The servers will also only serve you one beer at a time, to keep the happy hour less rowdy, which is a good move on their part.

Selc: The selection at Joe's is great. The place is fairly small, but offers a long list of craft beers on tap. The style of beers also varies enough to satisfy all beer drinkers. I would say Hop-heads will be more than pleased with Joe's selection of IPAs.

Food: The food at Joe's is very good. I would consider Joe's a diner type place, which I love, and I tend to stick to the diner type foods. The 2 egg breakfast is $5 and gives you eggs, toast, homefries/grits and bacon/sausage. Personally, I think that's a steal considering how good the food is for only $5. I haven't strayed too far from the diner foods, but the burgers and chicken sandwiches are also tasty. My recommendation is to stick to the diner food, and you won't be disappointed.

Value: Joe's is definitely $, and I think that's a great thing. Joe's has the best happy hour, with $2 beers from 3-6:30 and that easily makes it $ in my book. After happy hour the beers go back to their regular price but nothing exceeds $5 for a pint (also very reasonable/cheap for the area). The food is also inexpensive. 2 Egg breakfast with Bacon is $5 sandwiches are less than $7 and nothing exceeds $10. Joe's also offers a $3 mimosa and bloody marys on the weekends which are also quite delicious.

Overall: Overall Joe's is a great place to go for breakfast/brunch or just to grab drinks. The beer selection is great for a smaller place and consists mainly of craft beers on tap. The food is tasty diner food, that doesnt break the bank. Joe's happy hour is one of the best in Richmond, but can get crowded if you dont get there early enough. If you're looking to sit, wait til after happy hour when most of the hipsters leave. All in all, I love going to Joe's and would highly recommend it to any other BeerAdvocate.
