A- Pours a very, very pale golden color, with a one finger head. Surprisingly good retention for the style, and a constant stream of bubbles from the bottom of the glass, a la champagne.

S- Typical. Raw grain, yeasty, slightly skunked hops, etc. a bit more prominent aroma than many other euro lagers, but the same idea.

T- Clean, crisp, and thin. A hint of skunky hops all the way from front to back, and some residual corn sweetness on the finish. Touch of DMS, and a touch of skunk. Exactly what you'd expect from the style.

M- Thin, insipid, soda-like carbonation, and generally uninteresting. Just what you'd expect here.

D- If you enjoy the flavor, you can sling these all night long.

overall, I find this to be slightly better than the average Heineken, Stella, Grolsch, etc euro lager. It is still fairly boring, full of defects, skunked, etc, but out of the groups of euro lagers, this is one of the slightly more interesting ones. At least this one is a little more clean than the others.

Poured into a pint glass it forms a few mm of white head that leaves little lacing. The color is clear yellow. The aroma is sweetly citrus with light hops. The taste is on the dry side with mild hops and malt. Mouthfeel is good with moderate carbonation. It's a very drinkable brew, one of the better lagers.

I got a case of 24 Peroni's in the green glass bottle. I usually won't touch green bottles, but the packaging seemed to be rather light resistant, so what the heck.

Appearance was what Michelob Ultra appears: pale, crystal clear pale yellow. I figured it probably wouldn't have the level of adjunct Mic Ultra and was awaiting the taste to pass full judgement.

Smell had lemongrass notes and is lightly hopped. The "skunkiness" is very light, and certainly nothing like a bottle of Mickey's Malt liquour left in a tree stump for 10 days during the summer.

Taste is not what I expected. I really thought it would taste like Mic Ultra...but it doesn't. It's a bit more complex for sure. Less adjunct flavor in this offering for sure.

Mouthfeel is suprisingly filling for a beer so light and sparkly. It almost disappears on the palate when swallowing small sips, very dry beer.

Quite drinkable beer, never seemed too heavy or light.

Even tho it comes up to a C-, I still like this beer, C- just reflects that there are other offerings that are better and some that are not.

L - Pours a bright gold with quite a bit of carbonation and a thin white head that floats on top.

S - The first smell you get is a sweet lemon, but you then start to pick up hints of hops.

T - The tastes I picked up where herby wheat flavours that where followed by a slight fruitiness,

M&D - Easy to drink with good levels of carbonation. A simple beer that goes down nicely.

Overall one of the better euro pale lagers. But is a bit pricey for what it is.

First had this brew out of a can on the plane to Italy.

At first, I didn't like the slightly skanky smell and taste. As someone said, though, it's a Euro beer, and I was able to tolerate it.

Very light and drinkable, at least when it's cold. It's got to be horrid when warm.

Not much else to say about it, except that it's drinkable.

While in Italy, had a couple of chances to try it on tap, and there's not much difference between the can and the tap.

Drinkable, not really impressive.

12 oz bottle poured into a Pilsner glass. Best before 03/12/10.

A - One of the lightest beers I've ever seen, it's as pale yellow straw as they come and totally clear bubbly with a fantastic white head. Three fingers rose up right away to lower slowly while leaving a solid collar of lacing.

S - Unmistakable Euro-Lager sulfery smell that makes it hard to determine whether it's skunked or not. It has an interesting smell regardless. Typical adjunct aroma though but with a bit more hops.

T - There isn't much to the flavor. The sulfur is still there but it's otherwise a dry and bland lager. It's different somehow but not in a great way.

M - Crisp, fizzy, and light-bodied, this beer finishes with a carbonation bite. It's also extremely dry.

D - A Euro Lager I probably wont ever have again but it's not God-awful. Just lacking in every regard. Nothing about it stands out. If it's skunked, it's not too bad for being skunked that's for sure.

This beer reminded me of a higher quality, cleaner version of Heineken. It is a drinkable clean lager that tastes fairly standard, with nothing against it and nothing exceptional about it. I would buy it again if it were cheap, but for a European import lager, there are better choices.

Served on-tap in a cylindrical 40cl glass with marking in Bologna, Italy.

A: Pale golden with foamy white, 1-finger head with average retention and spare lacing.

S: Grain and light lemon hops

T: Pretty forgettable with light grain and light spicy, lemon hops in the finish. Typical Euro pale lager.

M: On par with other in the style with light body, high carbonation and grainy aftertaste.

D: Easy to drink but not much else to suggest it -- except the setting of a beautfiul night at the Piazza Maggiore on a Saturday night with friends.

Pale straw with a wispy white head the disappears so quickly you might question whether it existed in the first place. It smells grainy and slightly sweet. It has a sweet grain flavour with just a kiss of grassy hop character. Very mild bitterness. It feels light and effervescent in the mouth, which works in this beers favour. Thirst quenching and quaffable.

A: Pours a very, very light gold and is very clear, some head and stays for a decent amount of time. Nothing special here.

S: I am horrible with the smells but very grainy.

T: Malty start, semi-bitter hoppy aftertaste. Nothing too complex it would seem.

M: Good carbonation level but again, nothing too special here.

D: Drinkable because it is light and I could have many but I am not too fond of whatever the aftertaste is that I am getting.

A: Pours a very light, pale yellow with almost no head. Carbonation levels look to be very high.

S: Smells very acidic; grains, hops and floral notes. Very slight metallic, skunk aroma is also present. Not very appealing.

T: Malt sweetness and grains with a slightly hopped and dry finish. The finish is nice, although there are some off-notes towards the middle. Pretty simple and straightforward.

M: A very light bodied beer with plenty of carbonation. A bit on the thin and watery side, but still smooth.

D: The light bodied characteristics of this beer make it very drinkable and highly session-able. I wouldn't turn it down on a warm summer day, but there are better selections out there.

Going to an Italian restaurant for the daughters B-day, I have to have an Italian beer of course. Surprisingly good beer.

And this one hit the spot, a damn fine tasty brew, from the clear golden yellow start, plenty of white head in the modified straight pilsner glass.

As mentioned, very tasty with a sturdy amount of malt, lemon zest and a touch of grainy spice in the finish. I really enjoyed this brew, and will look forward to the next couple. Paired really well with the linguini in red wine clam sauce.

Poured into my trusty pint glass.
Comes out a clear, straw yellow with a clean dense white head that left some lacing.
Smells of a sulfur odor that dominates (which I used to consider 'skunky'), but that's what they are going for.
Tastes a little sweetness of malt and then a bitterness that brings forth the previously mentioned 'skunk' and then there is a clean finish that reveals some hops afterall.
Has a light body with a crisp feel.
Nice to try but it is boring and I would even prefer a MGD to this stuff.

An uninspiring, clear, pale yellow or dried hay with high carbonation, but no head to speak of.

Fresh cut grass and the tell-tale skunky aroma are very unappealing. Still, this is better than what I remember from the last Italian venture back in college. And what does "Nastro" mean in Italian anyway? I'm guessing it loosely translates to, "Nasty."

The flavor is vastly superior to that last one, previously referenced. That is to say, it had little or no flavor and I was able to finish it.

While this is thirst quenching, so is a thin body of carbonated water.

Okay, one can drink a bunch of these, but I can't think of an occasion that would be appropriate.

While Euro Lagers might not generally be my thing, how often do I get a chance to drink something from Italy?

Pouring into a glass results in a very very light gold color with about two fingers of somewhat solid white head.

Scent is of some light hops.

Taste has a bit of sweetness, some mild hops and some mild malt. Flavor quickly disappears after a swallow, no real aftertaste to speak of.

Mouthfeel is somewhat bland. Nothing to really talk about here.

Overall it is very light, very drinkable, pretty much what you would expect from a Euro Lager.

This beer pours a clear extra pale straw color. The head is a half inch in height, and recedes quickly into minimal lacing. The aroma is of bready malt with a moderate spicy noble hop presence. It is quite nice, and very good for the style. The taste is a lot like the aroma, with the hops being slightly more dominant. Again, very nice for the the style. The mouthfeel is light bodied with high carbonation, but not too high. Overall, I'm very surprised by this beer. It isn't only good for its style, it is good all around. I would certainly drink this again.

bottle poured into standard pint glass

a: straw yellow color, slight head with very little retention. Fizzy carbonation

s: slight floral hop aroma, slight hint of malt

t: slight bready malt balanced with floral hop, slightly skunked flavor appears too.

m&d: light bodied, with a crisp fizzy mouthfeel. Not a horrible beer, but for the price it is a poor value.

Cheers!!!

A: It pours straw coloured with a even white head that lingers for quite some time, and afterwards there is a lot of head residues on the glass.

S: There is definitely floral hops and malt (possibly caramell), and a lot of fruit (green apples and citrus).

T: A refreshing beer that has a nice mix of floral as well as bitter hops, some sweetness to the malt and both fruity and floral notes.
The aftertaste is rather long with a nice bitterness.

M: Dry, medium bodied with some carbonic acid.

D: A nice lager that goes down smoothly (preferably in summer). This beer would taste rather nice with a pizza.

Peroni Beer

An italian euro pale. Appears straw yellow with no head to speak of really. Just a bit of lace.

Smells of the tettnang hop, sulfur, floral, even a tad skunkish which I would attribute to the hop.

Taste is bitter upfront with a cracker like malt character. The hops pull through more than anything, and impart a skunky bitterness.

Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with a crisp finish.

Overall, an average drinking euro lager, similar to a Heineken with a bolder hop character.

Pours a light yellow pale color with a one finger head. The smell is weak and is not very complex. There is not alot going on in the smell department. The taste once again is not very complex either. There is very few notes of anything in it. The carbonationis on the high side. Overall you could drink a couple of the beers but not a lot. There is not much going on with this beer.

On-Tap in a Peroni glass, how fitting.

A- Peroni Nastro Azzurro has the typical Euro Pale Lager look with a very light yellow color with some white gold highlights. A thin 2cm white cap stayed throughout the drink leaving loose spider web lacing.

S- I got what I expected out of the smell, nothing much. European malts giving off some old bread, alot of grain and some weak hops rounding out the smell. Cant help to notice that a light skunked scent comes with the territory, although this is more like an indian reservation. Not a great scent, but certainly not the worst.

T- Alright, I know this is not a stand out beer, but I was not totally disgusted by it. If I had more than one pint though, that would probably change quickly. Lightly toasted malt with grain and some skunk. Some hops in the backend giving off a thumbnail of flavor and hardly noticable bitterness. The hops in this give off a apparent grassy taste. No more, no less!!

M- Peroni is a light bodied lager with big carbonation going for it, perhaps a bit to much, but if it was not there this beer would be dead in the water. Presently it's on life support, reminding me of many american macros. I expected more from an Italian brewery but I guess every country has a big enough brewery to quench the thrist of the simpletons

D- One pint was enough for me, in fact 3/4 of one is plenty come to think of it. Glad I tried it on tap because I can only assume that the bottled version is like watching a Paula Poundstone routine. I kid, I kid, no, actually, I think im dead on.

12oz bottle poured into a pilsner glass.

A: Pale like a macro. Somewhat respectable head. If you poured this into a flute, it would be indistinguishable from champagne.

S: Neither malt nor hops assert themselves strongly.

T: Hops are definitely present, but this is much more malt-forward than the typical Euro. Finishes slightly sweet. Kind of like a toned-down helles.

M: Light, bubbly, cleansing.

D: You can definitely detect the Bavarian influence in this beer. For that reason, it's a notch above most Euro lagers.

Poured from a bottle in Florence, Italy 6 14 09 during my recent Italian tour into a plastic cup (the only thing that I could find...it wound up being a suitable vessel for this beer).

A Heinekin in appearance. Boring Euro Pale Lager look. Minimal head, light yellow brown translucent body.

S very little smell. Essense of Heinekin.

T Exactly like an Heineking only less interesting. This is not a good beer. It is too watery.

M Thin to no mouthfeel. I mean really, it had almost no mouthfeel.

D Good but this is not worth a second look for me.
