Served from a handpump cask
A: This is the most beautiful cask poured beer I have ever seen. Originally, around a half finger of head formed, but below that a beautiful cascading of head was occurring, similar to but much more slowly than a nitro pour. The beer is a deep amber with an off white head. The retention was great.
S: Strong toffee smell along with caramel, prunes, and a hint of spicy whiskey and maraschino cherry. Integration of these aromas is perfect.
T: This beer has a very nice caramel sweetness along with prunes with a balanced hop bitterness. Behind this intense malt profile, I get a spicy whiskey character along with a hint of maraschino cherry. This is like a beer version of the Manhattan cocktail. The beer chosen goes perfectly with the character it got from the barrel.
M: Medium to thick mouthfeel and extremely creamy.
O: This beer is phenomenal. Between this and the Woodford Reserve Barrel Aged Imperial Stout, they have the two best beers brewed in Atlanta by a long shot in my opinion. The barrel added so much to an already great beer.
