Being a native Californian relocated to Fort Drum I thought that my days as a west-coast hop head had come to an ignominious end. However, fate having led me to a house in Sackets Harbor, I quickly found this gem of a bar ( a mere five minutes' walk from my house!). They have a plethora of California IPAs along with a healthy sampling of Belgians and a large bottle list. Also, the prices, $6 on average, are not that steep for what you're getting, particularly since you're not likely to find anything comparable in the greater Watertown area. In short, I have spent many hours here, and I intend to spend many more.

Went here during the Can-Am 1812 shoot out weekend. Nestled next door to the Sackets Harbor Brew Pub, this was a neat little pub-grill. Last year we visited the Brew Pub. While the food was okay the beer there was rather flawed. Very unbalanced beers, that seem to be made poorly and rushed. So when I heard there was a new beer lovers bar opened I just had to go.

The beer selection was the nicest part of this little place. The worst part was the space. This is bar none the smallest "bar" I have ever been in. Very very limited space and business was elbow to elbow. While they did have 10-12 tables on a front deck, it was hard enough managing just getting a couple beers. It was however, a very busy weekend in this very small town :)

While they are the only craft beer bar in the Sackets area, they also have the highest prices you will find in any bar in Jefferson County. Which is becoming more expected in a "craft beer bar".

Food was properly cooked to a T, and that is impressive considering just how small a kitchen they operate off, as well as how busy it was. While it was pricey it was good bar food.

Without a doubt a better venture than the dun-flopped brew pub, good fellows, or Tin Pan. Great selection of beer( and wine). Awesome owners ( props to Ryan and his Wife), and good food!

This place would be the ultimate beer spot if they had the seating of the boathouse of pub, and a tad fairer pricing. With that said, best of luck to the Proud Owners and I look forward to going there again in 2012!

Being someone who lives just a few short miles away, this place is perfect. This is a summer time dream. Choose from a great variety of crafts near and far, that will fill any adventurous beer drinker's fancy. Enjoy your favorite beverage outside on their spacious padio with great friends. This place will not disappoint. I met Ryan and we even shared a few crafts and just talked about alot of great beers throughout the world. I have yet to eat there but have heard nothing but great reviews. I highly recommend this place for those who love to be by the water and enjoy a tasty craft beer now and then.

Finally a real beer bar is open in the north country. My wife and I went on a beautiful Wednesday in July for lunch. The place is small inside but they have a nice deck to sit on in the summer. They had 6 beers on tap: Dales Pale, Troegs Sunshine Pils, Indica IPA, Uniboue Ephemere and some others I don't remember. The bottle list had an excellent selection and changes regularly. The food was fresh and delicious. If you are in the area it is definitely worth checking out (not very far of I81 either) and an establishment that we have badly needed in this area.

This is a new and evolving place and one that is committed to craft beer. This is exactly the kind of place we had dreamed of having near us but never imagined it would happen. Our first visit we were unable to find a seat for dinner because they were so busy and the place is fairly small. We returned after dinner and were very happy we did. The beer menu includes several of our favorites: Rochefort 8 & 10, Unibroue Trois Pistoles , Defiant Tripel, Le Chouffe to name a few. There is a quality beer experience waiting for anyone and everyone here. On our second visit taps included: Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald, Unibroue Emphemere, Troegs Double Bach, Hop Ottin IPA (I'm forgetting some...but you get my point...variety) We chose a Gnomegang to enjoy with our dinner of a Smoked Canadian Brisket sandwich and Poutine (hand cut fries with duck donfit & Camembert cheese)....yum...absolutely indulgent. They food menu focuses on local, seasonal food and it's evident that they care as much about your food experience as your beer experience. Ryan and his staff are committed to the customer experience and I can only imagine that The Hops Spot will continue to improve.

We go the 1000 islands every year for vacation and I was excited to see that someone finally opened a place with good beers and beer centric food nearby. We stopped in for lunch (on the hottest day of the year 2011) and met the owner (Ryan). He was friendly and was very appreciative of the Two Hearted that I brought up from NC for him to try. The brats were very good and the salad my wife got was HUGE. They had 5-6 taps with a variety of tasty stuff (Edmund Fitzgerald, Unibrowe, Indica) are what I remember as well a great selection of bottles (Dogfish, Middle Ages, Southern Tier, Great Divide, Stone). There is a nice porch with umbrellas outside and its right on the main drag so there is some people watching. This is by far the best beer selection in the area and I look forward to going back whenever I am in the area!

The Hops Spot is awesome. It was relatively new when I visited (6/23/11) but the selection was incredible. It's great when someone knowledgeable about beer opens a place like this! The owner drives to pick up Middle Ages beers (on draft!) and Captain Lawrence (in bottles). If you're looking for something hard to find, check the place out. I started with samples of the Middle Ages IPA and Skunk Black IPA before getting a Clown Shoes Clementine. Followed up with a Great Lakes Holy Moses and then left with a box of stuff including Middle Ages Dragon Slayer, Captain Lawrence Golden Delicious, and several others that are impossible to find back in Pennsylvania.

If you're visiting the Thousand Islands region, definitely head to the Hops Spot. I spent about two hours chatting with the owner and the staff and had a great time. The food is great, the service was friendly and knew their stuff. Bring the family along and get the kids an Italian soda (my son and daughter loved them!). Overall, I couldn't have had a better time. The place is located right in front of the Sackets Harbor brewery. I've been to the brewery a bunch of times but will spend my time and money at the Hops Spot from now on.
