Shared 22oz bottle.
Looks as expected for style.
Flavor: exceptionally fruity APA with near, but lower than average, bitterness.

O: very nice fruity/juicy flavor. Easy drinking.

So bland. The taste was almost like an adjunct.

Crystal clear amber in color.
nice hop nose with malty backing. Smells nice and sweet.
great malt flavor that's got a good sweetness.
Some hops in the back to round it out. Lost its fiz a bit early.
Overall a decent brew, I'll have to try some more Lost Rhino stuff, this was a good introduction.

22 oz bomber. No freshness date. Poured into a pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a very cloudy orange copper with a massive white head. Standard pour and half my glass was foam. Did the same thing on my second pour 20 mins later. What the hell? The head lingers for far too long and settles into a 1/4" thick crown. Plenty of lacing.

Aroma: Lemon citrusy hops, lemon oil, earthy, floral, pale malts.

Taste: Lemony citrus hops with an added piney resin bitterness. pale, crystal malts add a little depth but overall the brew is unbalanced and perhaps a little too bitter. Not loving it.

Mouthfeel: Medium body. slightly high carbonation. Finish is bland. Beer is one dimensional with too much unbalanced bitterness.

Overall: Not terrible but there's much better pale ales. Doubt I would ever buy this again.

From Virginia, the ew River is local. 5.6% pale ale. Says very aromic w a bouquet of citris fruit, grass & a light touch of tropicalsweetness but I think is a subtle pale ale with no aftertaste. Feels like 3% etoh. Tried it @ Pizza paridisio @ dupont circle. A glass goes for $7.

On tap at the Black Bear Bistro in Warrenton, VA

A clear yellowsh amber with average head and good lacing

The smell is faint, citrus

Taste is mainly piney and citrus, refreshing but not complex

Overall a good and drinkable Pale Ale, but far from outstanding.

Poured from the bottle into a nonic pint glass.

Barely any head forms off the pour from the bottle. What does form is a thin shocking white head that barely manages to form. Hazy, murky, and cloudy dull body of sewery copper yellow and brown. Some cola like bubbles sticking to the sides of the glass. No lacing, manages to keep a simple white collar. This does not look appetizing.

Nose smells of green apple, faint malt and toast in the background. A bit sweet, English like tea hop aromatics, not that impressive, but also a noticeable medicinal bitter. That bitterness is really dominant after much time.

Crazy weird finish on this beer. Palate is wet bodied and lacking any depth. Taste is quick malt and medicinal hop finish. Very biting medicine on the finish with a dentist trip to the office bitterness.

This is my second beer from this brewery and so far I am not impressed with what I have had.

My first review of this brewery.

Pours coppery in color with a bit of orange. A 2 finger white head settles quickly Slightly cloudy, you can see through it, just no real detail. Bubbles of carbonation evident early on.

Nutty, grapefruit early on, then more lemony in aroma with doughy biscuit and some grassiness.

Rather dry at first impression, but then a bit of sweet, nutty malt. Overall, mostly citric, lemon and bitter lemon peel. Significant piney aspect rising in the back of the mouth. A hint of tropical fruit on occasion, llike mango.

Moderate in body with moderate bite of carbonation. Slightly sticky and drying in the end.

After seeing the reviews, I was surprised at how much I liked this beer. It's not "in your face", but it has good character, and in my opinion, is well rounded. I wouldn't hesitate to try it again.

Poured from a bottle into a goblet.

Appearance: Pours a clear amber color with just a touch of golden hue. There is a layer of off white head that goes away completely.

Smell: This beer has a mild smell with some malt sweetness and just a touch of hops. Nice but not very strong.

Taste: This is a pretty good beer. Bready malt with a good amount of hop bitterness. I would like the sweetness of the body to stick around for a bit longer to accompany the bitterness. This is a good food beer.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with a good amount of tingly carbonation and a dry finish.

Overall: I enjoyed this pale ale quite a bit. Not perfect by any means, but I liked it. I would search out other offerings from this brewery.

22oz into a snifter.

A. Clear bright orange/copper body with a small white head.

S. Lots of grapefruit notes, cracker and caramel malt.

T. Pine, grass, light toffee, a bit of citrus. Dry, almost too dry.

M. Light-bodied with moderate carbonation.

O. A decent pale ale, which is a bit too dry and grassy for its own good. Next time skip the Munich malt and pick some more interesting hops.

From 22oz bomber to Bruges hybrid glass on 2/9/12
*From notes

-- Split this well deserved bomber with my Pops after a long damn day. --

A: Clean copper-orange. A good pour yields a loose and white .5 finger head.

S: Slightly piney, with a faint kiss of what seems like mango. Grains and malt linger in the background.

T: Low key. Quite malty, and a decent amount of East Coast pine. It reminds me a bit of a lesser Great Lakes Burning River, as it's not nearly as expressive.

M: Meager and disappointing. It's just not as rich and fulfilling as I'd like. The carbonation seems to be a bit low, like they should have kicked it up a notch back at the brewery.

O: Not a half bad attempt at an APA. Not my favorite in-style, but certainly not the worst. I don't know how often I'll return to this, but wouldn't be offended if a buddy bought me a pint.
