To see an American Wild Ale on the chalkboard at my closest brewery, let's just say I was a little shocked. The chalkboard described it as fruity and funky, which pretty much nailed it.
Appearance - Poured an amber color with a small white head, which did not last long.
Smell - Brett/funky aroma. This was a very appealing smell. Fruity and a hoppy background. Sour aroma definitely comes through first and last.
Taste - Very refreshing. The sour/tart/funky taste is definitely there, but not overwhelming.
Mouthfeel - Definitely carbonated and pleasing on the palate. Not too creamy or chewy, but a little bready.
Overall - A very good representation of a Brett based beer for this small young brewery. For its first attempt at a wild ale, this one turned out pretty darn good. Worth seeking out and having again.
Serving type: on-tap
