I was already a fan of Bodebrown, so it was thrilling to meet owner and brewer Samuel Cavalcanti at Great American Beer Festival, who was responsible for this little gift. I cannot even think of how to repay him for this (and Dubbel Montfort which I have in queue) gem. As currently the strongest beer to be produced in Brazil, Perigosa Imperial Milk Stout takes their brewing scene to a whole new frontier. Comes in a tiny 310 ml bottle with a black label and white font. "Industria Brasileira", "Bourbon Barrel Aged" appear on the label as well. Appropriately consumed on St. Patrick's Day, on to the beer:

No question about the color, it is black as black. Swirl the beer around the glass and dotted lacing and legs form around the walls. The smell is pleasant from the start, but gets better and better as it warms; a river of semi-sweet chocolate flood the nostrils, some oak chips make their marks, big raw cocoa, and a splash of bourbon.

The aroma is only a portion of the experience. Once you taste this, surrounding beers will taste like water. It's stupidly full in flavor, with flavors like chocolate sauce, double chocolate cocoa brownies, a kiss of esters, and some wood. The flavor covers and oaks into your palate, and being full bodied and lightly carbonated certainly helps bring this home. Somehow, the alcohol, standing at 14.5%, is almost silent and integrated well into the beer. No wonder it's called "danger"!

Foda-me, esta breja! Samuel and his team at Bodebrown have a monster at hand, which is as delicious as it is intriging. Impressive all the way and living up to my lofty expectations.
