This place was a typical bar from an atmosphere perspective and decor-wise, though it did have a really cool wall made out of old beer cans. There was a small outside patio in the back which would probably be really nice if it was a little warmer.

The beers were served in pint glasses only - they did not seem to use any other types of glassware during out visit. Beers were served at the proper temperature and with a decent head.

The service at this place was OK - not super fast even though it was not busy and the server did not seem to have any real knowledge of the beers other than which ones were new. The server was friendly and pleasant.

The place did not have a huge selection but there were a couple of interesting choices in each of the styles they categorized the menu by... though I would say they only had about 10 different styles represented and it was slightly heavy on the IPA/DIPA/APA/Black IPA. I found a couple of interesting beers, at least one of them a pretty new offering.

We went to this place for brunch and while they did not have an extensive menu, the items that were ordered were pretty good. I had a short rib hash with eggs and some chicken fingers - both were good but not out of this world. I would definitely go back here again.

From a price perspective the prices on the beers seemed quite reasonable while I felt the brunch prices were a little high (though I have a slightly different perspective after leaving the NYC area for NC - an example, the biscuits + gravy were $12 here while they are $2.75 in NC). It did not seem out of line with other places in the neighborhood.

Greenpoint Brooklyn, just a very short walk from McCarren Park.

A wall of empty beer cans on the left as you enter and the bar to the right...what I was looking for was cans to go and they had about 4 varieties. So currently its beer to do or food in the mid sized out door dining area in the rear...High top tables, televisions with the game, a load of quality in-house and guest taps on and a friendly staff......worth a visit if in the area and you want an outdoor bite and a few quality drafts....dont forget to pick up a few four packs of cans to go...

Dimly lit drinking area decorated with a wall of vintage cans and wireframe depictions. A short bar is cut in half by a supporting beam, with another half dozen or so tables for couples. It feels fairly cozy. A handful of TVs play sports games, with the crowd cheering on the game (despite neither team being local). Staff is quick and on point. Beer selection spans a good array of styles, but focuses more on the lighter options rather than dark. It's solid, but not worth the trouble of going out of your way to visit.

an interesting little spot here, stopped in for a couple of beers while we were in the neighborhood. it presents itself more like an irish pub than a brewery, mellow old bar room feel, with some irish decor, it feels relaxed and cozy, dark wood, some sports on tv, i didnt see brewing equipment anywhere, but they had a pretty long and diverse list of house made beers. we had a number of tasty ones, including a raw ale that blew me away, a well done sour, and a rustic pilsener type. the only one i didnt care for was the brut ipa, but thats not unique to these guys, thats turning out to be the style in general i fear. service was helpful and friendly in here, the chicken wings were solid, and the beers overall were pretty good, if a little less refined than the best beers we had in the city on our visit. i like an old world pub feel, especially around the holidays, a little nicer and more evolved than the standard taproom these days. not all the beers were amazing, but surely you will find something you like when you stop by. i enjoyed our time here, and appreciated the diversity of their beer menu!

Did I go to same place as the previous reviewers had?
The vibe, as my friend pointed out, was off right from the get - go: The mirror over the bar listing spirits had "Congac". Not a good start.
The service was very good so no criticism there. Then again, this site is about beer so let's talk about that. Three of us each got a sampler of four beers: not a one was finished. The first two I tried were a Berliner Wiesse and a barrel-aged sour: almost indistinguishable, and neither coming close to their respective styles. After that it was a dry-hopped saison and a pilsner. Both were weak and relatively flavorless. Also, all four of those beers were served too warm - not something I usually complain about. The IPAs were the last chance for redemption but no such luck. All four were weak and uninspired. This was most disappointing as I had noted good ratings for all of their IPAs on BA. This is the first time that this has happened in all of the time that I've been a member. Maybe I've just been lucky until now. And last but not least was the barrel-aged sour brown. Almost undrinkable.
All in all, a mediocre experience.

A pretty standard neighbor hood brewpub, a bit 90s in feel and quality., kind of sports bar like, a big change from being at Torst right before. The beers were hit and miss, some decent IPAs, but nothing special. Service was ok, it's a perfectly fine place overall, but you can do much better in this neighborhood and city.

This place invites one in; it had an odd familiarity, though I'd need been there before. Narrow footprint with a long bar that seats between 12-15 against one wall. Some tables, a wall made of beer cans, and a backyard contribute to the atmosphere. They had 14 of their own beers on tap, covering a nice variety of styles, and the three that I had were excellent. They also do crowlers, so I'll get to enjoy another one tomorrow. Food was tasty and reasonably priced. Bartender was friendly and knowledgeable. Great Place.

This was a really nice stop. The beer was solid, not amazing. Didn't have any food when I went, since there were some issues in the kitchen, but it certainly looked good. Nice vibe, very neighborhood-bar type feel, with a few regulars already there at 11am when I visited. The service was great, bartender willing to chat and help me plan out my Brooklyn beer stops. Definitely worth a visit.

A fairly standard bar area with a few nooks and crannies around some corners. TVs with a variety of programming, including an auto auction, Bones, and SportsCenter. An extremely kind waitress/bartendress named Katie. She seemed to be serving the regulars and addressing them by name. I didn't have any food, but it sure smelled amazing. Beer was pretty darned good too. Happy hour, which is pretty much all day, was very cheap. Got 2 12 oz. pours, a barrel aged scottish ale and a DIPA for $4 each.

The place has transformed from a great local dive with a varied and well-rounded selection of imports on draft to only their own brews on draft. The pours are still quality and the food is a notch above correct, but I loved that they used to have stuff like Pilsner Urquell and Old Speckled Hen on draft. Now it seems they've kept up with the times, and their selection is what everyone else is offering - local microbrews with a heavy accent on IPAs. If that's your thing, you're going to love it. I preferred the old ways, but I'll still come here for the vibe and when I've got a hankering for some great waffle fries or wings.

Went by on 01/10/14. Really cool spot, cheap beers ($6 any pint of K&L beers), other beers on tap and pull bar. Didn't eat, beers were above average. TV's on for the football games, would def stop back in.

Vibe: The place has a bar on the right side when you walk in, tables in the front and along the left wall. It opens up to a larger seating area in the back that is adjacent to an outdoor patio. The wall on the left is entirely covered with beer cans from the 1970s.

Quality: Beers were served at the proper temperatures in pint glasses.

Service: I went early on a Saturday afternoon and they had two waitresses and one bartender working. It wasn't crowded so service came quick.

Selection: The place had about 30 beers on-tap and 50 beers in bottles. Some of these were BMCs but the vast majority were craft beers.

Food: I tried the short rib hash with eggs for brunch and it was rather tasty and filling.

Phil’s doing one night having escaped Mug’s intact to come here, wherever here is. I believe Bedford ended right back there (pointing) and this is now Nassau, corridor to Greenpoint points north. He wanted to come here, show off something he knew about, you knoooow. I think he ate a chicken, I don’t recall but I think I do recall that. And now some months later, big Jonny W’s en route for brunch with some of the unusual suspects, I’m just a beer ahead of the (beer is not a) game...

Interesting place to navigate, it twists and turns. And the décor is a mishmash of Irish bar, maybe. Dark wall of blackboard to the left over wood slat lowers, black as well. The tap list is printed here sorted by style, and specialty cocktails, shots, daily specials and summer drinks, as well. Brewing scene wallpaper to the right behind the bar, and brick & wood to the rear. Forward of the bar, the front windows open over Nassau, but you ought not enter through them (Like some douche bag just did). Lino slate looking floor, and a pressed tin ceiling & crown molding, with matching stainless steel ductwork.

Some barrels with light Irishings hugging pillars in a row down the center of the room. Light lanterns adorn mounted, filament glowing single drop bulb lighting tracing the bar tracing and over the adjacent seating, and track spots on the blackboard wall and to the barback. A ½ dozen 2-seat square and roundy tables up front, 3 baby hightops around the bend, and 2 cut tree tables adjacent to the bar; jagged and beautiful and varnished a glossy wetness.

The phat wood topped bar is somewhat telephonish in shape; long with angles on the ends, with a wood plank base and a foot box. Seating for a dozen and a half on backed chairs. Barback is tiered booze on center over stacked glassware boxed aglow, and cooler space below. A shelf above holds specialty booze and Local 1 & 2 bottles, and another shelf ceilingside displays the macros I didn’t come here to drink. ‘New on tap’ and food item boards alongside the barback. Flatscreens to both sides and further down, and mounted to the rear. I suspect lots of soccer is watched on them.

A small back room holds 5 mismatched tables, and a fireplace with large candles a-burnin’. Darts, flatscreens, and a mounted shelf displaying pieces of play; bottles, candles and the like. And through to a tight backyard space, a dozen mismatched tables there with a street scene mural.

32 taps, split across 3 stainless steel bar towers of 14, 10 & 8 at different points along the bar. Roughly 2/3 of them are craft beerings, a mix of localish (Brooklyn Summer Ale, East IPA & Lager), Captain Lawrence Kolsch, Freschester Pale Ale & Liquid Gold, Southampton IPA), regional (Ommegang Witte, Sly Fox Pikeland Pils, DogFishHead Indian Brown Ale & 90 Minute IPA, Harpoon Belgian Pale Ale & IPA, Sam Adams Summer Ale, Peak Organic Summer), and someone else’s region (21st Amendment Bitter American & Hell or High Watermelon, Goose Island IPA, Bear Republic Hop Rod Rye. The remainder is a mix of meh imports (Weihenstephaner Hefe, Newcastle, Harp, Guinness, Stella, Palm, Carlsberg, Zywiec), macro-ey things (Blue Moon, Killians, McSorley’s Irish Pale Ale, Coors Light), and a single cider (Magners). Started with the DogFishHead Indian Brown Ale and then a Captain’s Kolsch (Brewery of the month is Captain Lawrence, so all pints are $4, a good thing, yes).

A pair of handpumps, too; currently the Brooklyn Brown Ale & Sly Fox Country Bitter pouring. And 20 bottles & cans of mostly macro and meh, 1 of which is Rodenbach playing in a bad bottle/can neighborhood.

We’re brunchin’, although tight on time to go watch Bennis (Ben playing tennis). I had the house grind burger (short rib & brisket beef), with cheddar and bacon, and sweet (king of all) fries. It was pretty goddamn excellent. I also took a hit (or two) off of Annie’s fried green tomato BLT, with tomatillo aioli on toasted sourdough. It did not suck.

Solid tap list (in contrast with an oddly not so bottle/can collection) and that brewery of the month beers on the cheap thing works just fine for me. And foodwise, what I had on brunch was quite tasty. Good comfortable house. Oh Phil’s going to be impossible now.
