Poured into a La Chouffe Tulip

A - crystal clear dark orange/amber, one finger white head and a tiny bit of lacing

S - Lots of sweet flowers, nice sweet malt, gentle bitter hop, a little bit of alcohol, earth, grass and lots of nice citrus

T - Tons of floral notes, a bit of citrus, really mellow but nice bitterness, great crisp sweetness, grass, a bit of wood, earth and very balanced malt

M - Medium minus body, medium complexity, well balanced, low acidity and medium plus finish

D - One of the easiest drinking beers I have had in a long while. Tastes great, goes down like water and gives you a bit of a buzz

Final thought - $7 a sixer and 6.9% abv. If you haven't had this one. Try it!

A blind purchase! Never seen or heard of this beer, but decided to give it a shot tonight.

Serving type - Bottle into glass

A - Pours a hazy, golden-amber hue, with a nice, one-finger white head, with decent retention and lacing.

S - Smell is of citrus fruits (orange, lemon), honey, piney hops, and hints of caramel malt.

T - Taste is of lemon and citrus fruits up front, following up with flavors of piney hops and caramel malt, and finishing with a tart bitterness. Great balance of brighter citrus, and darker hop/caramel IPA flavors!

M - This is a medium bodied beer, with smooth, mild carbonation. About what you'd expect for the ABV.

O - This was a nice little surprise. A solid IPA that's worth a try if you come across it!

Picked up a few sixers when Safeway introduced this beer at $2.99 a six pack!! I swear I thought I was reading it wrong. It is now back up to $6.99 or so. Pours a nice copper color with a good half inch of off-white foam with sticky lacing. The aroma is quite nice. Citrus punch right off the bat with some orange, green apple and lemon rind leading the way. The taste is good. Very refreshing and not overly potent as some IPA's can be. Multiples are easily consumed though the 6.9%. Nice hoppiness and a pretty good balance of malt on the swallow with some orange taste shining through also. Slight tangy aftertaste. Overall I was not holding out much hope for this based on the price and obscure brewing company. I was pleasantly surprised though and for the price it is a nice buy. Giver "her" a shot.

This is a superb looking beer. The head actually grows on it and doesn`t seem to disappear, i.e. I`ll be finished before it disappears. Very nice dark straw colour.
Smell is ok, but nothing special. The hop aromas boasted on the label are almost non-existent, but still detectable. The taste is much better. Lots of floral notes, a little citrus, nothing too complex but very well balanced. Good stuff. Very nice mouthfeel with a dry finish. Overall, it deserves a taste but I won`t be buying again with so many other amazing craft beers to try.

I liked this. It was hoppy and very light compared to what I usually drink. I would call this an above average IPA. I would recommend it with a meal, such as prime rib or a steak as a compliment. The taste was similar to Henry Weinhard's IPA, with a pleasant aftertaste.

Poured slightly chilled in straight-edge glass.

A: billowy head; copper-orange color; very good carbonation; decent lacing
S: sweet, light; hints of bubblegum, hops; aroma disappears relatively soon
T: decent-bodied IPA flavor; medium-strong hop profile; malts comes through in a sweetness that plays second fiddle to the hops

Overall a solid, but not spectacular, IPA.

The IPA by Double Take is an interesting beer...not so much that it is awesome....but more by how easy drinking it is. The beer poured a clear yellow with 1/2 finger thick white head that is leaving a lace. The smell is more earthy type hops...no citrus or pine present....at least that I can pick up. The taste is a very mellow IPA that has a good compbination of bittering hops and sweeter malt. The mouthfeel is a medium body with smooth carbaontation. Overall I like this a a good session IPA...some may find it a bit sweet...this is definitely an East Coast IPA.

Safeway beer.

Pours a bright gold color with a nice white head, good lacing too.

Nose is of grapefruits, hard candies, and pine.

Taste is creamy and doughy up front, light spice and sweetness. Finish is dry, with grapefruit bitterness. Pretty decent tasting IPA.

Mouthfeel is decent, but a bit to thin for my liking.

Overall, not a bad beer at all. It's an average, to slightly above average IPA. You could do worse with some more well known brands too.

I picked up a sixer of this up at Dominick's for $6.99 on a whim, so I didn't have huge expectations since the price was right.

A - Looks and pours like a perfect example of an IPA. Golden color with a 2 finger off white head and some nice lacing.

S - The smell was well.. Pretty absent. A little bit of hop bitterness on the nose. It doesn't smell bad, but there isn't much.

T - Its pretty easy to drink and hides the almost 7% abv pretty well. That being said, if you are looking for a nice hop punch... It really isn't there. Finishes nicely though and it does the job.

M - Again, typical mouthfeel for an IPA. Medium bodied with a nice carbonation level.

O - If I was having a family party or something I would definitely throw a couple 6 packs of this in the cooler since its about the same price as your standard American adjunct six pack.

No bottling date,

Into a pint glass:

A: golden orange yet fairly clean body with a one finger white foamy head that leaves a fair amount of speckled lacing

S: a fair amount of hops up front and a decent amount of hops

T: balanced but mostly staying true to an AIPA style, a somewhat malty yet bitter aftertaste, sticky sweet finish

M: light to medium, fairly sessionable, carbonation seems subdued for its style but really just mediocre for the most part

O: not a bad AIPA, but nothing spectacular and nothing to quickly come back to

Poured from a 12-ounce bottle into chilled mug.

A: Coppery gold, clear & a short head with good stamina.

S: A typical, albeit light, floral/citrus nose; more complexity would have been nice.

T: Some orange or other citrus, fair amount of hops, not much in the way of malt (which I liked). A bitey bitter finish, but not in a bad way; reminiscent of a red.

M: A bit thin, but pungent.

O: Not a bad little pour at all!

Poured from a bottle into a pilsner glass. About an inch of frothy head. Minimal lacing. Nice ring of film on the sides, that lasted throughout.

Slight whiffs of citrus and toffee, but a bit disappointing in terms of an IPA.

Citrus definitely dominates the initial taste. Lemon comes to mind, but it may be something else. It’s followed with an alcohol bite and slightly bitter finish.

Medium body. Creamy texture that was a bit oft-putting. Average carbonation. An abrupt ending.

A pretty average IPA overall. As I’m looking at my ratings, I might have been a bit generous, but I’ll stick with it.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass

A - hazy orange in color. thick frothy white head, serious lacing.

S - slight hops smell - some pine and grapefruit come through. can't get a lot out of the smell.

T - good malty backbone is actually what i notice first. some grapefruit hops come through here as well. slightly metallic at the end

M - a little watery and undercarbed. unpleasant to drink in my opinion.

Overall - pretty average beer, nothing special here. for all of the good IPAs out there, don't bother with this one.

Poured from a standard pressure-cap 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Reviewed live. No best-by date.

A- Finger-thick white head. Medium retention. Light amber color with high clarity. Sticky lacing.

S- Very fruity floral hops. Tropical fruits. Quite pleasant actually, but not a very profile IPA.

T- Very bitter, pine and alpha hop oil. Some of the fruitiness exists, but not much. One of those too hop-forward IPAs that plague the U.S.

M- Thick and almost chunky. Dry finish.

O- About medium. Not good, not bad. Drinkable without being super enjoyable.

Color is an amber copper with a frothy one and a half finger head that hangs for a while and leaves some nice lacing behind.

The smell is not the IPA smell I had hope for. Only light hoppy aromas to speak of.

Taste isn't what I hoped for either. Drinkable but not deserving of alot of explanation here.
Price is right for what you get though.

The feel I got from this brew was not unpleasant but doesn't make want to go out and get more either. Dry is the main thing that comes to mind.

Overall it has a picture of a pretty girl on label and is priced ok for a party but not anything special.

A: orangey gold; little head
S: lots of bright citrus but it fades very fast
T: mellow, rich, bitterness really dominates at the end; lacks a fresh flavour. When first opened it was actually quite appealing but all flavour faded quickly.
M: nice
O: my mouth just tastes bitterness. It needs much more flavour.

Appearance is golden amber with a thin but steady head and spotty lace. Smell of hoppy floral notes with a light sweet caramel malt aroma. Taste of sweet caramel malts with an underbalance of citric and piney floral hops. Mouthfeel is medium - light with good carbonation. For me it's way to sweet for an IPA and doesn't give the hops a chance to catch up from beginning to end even in the aftertaste.

I am one who does not enjoy citrus style IPA's and this one from Double Take fits citrus throughout. A nice head and color, for me thats about it for enjoyment of this IPA. A sweet, citrus flavor is over-powering and at 6.9 alcohol, I was very surprised by the over bearing citrus content of this IPA.

Double Take IPA is not a heavy IPA, rather I bet for many, this would be a good IPA for a hot summer day/evening. For myself, I'll move on to something else.

Cheers!

I got this at Safeway for $5 a six-pack. I bought three six-packs IPA, pale ale and amber. This IPA didn't taste hoppy. It wasn't crisp. It tasted sweet and limp. I drank one or two but am going to have to dump the rest. Only the amber tasted good enough to drink (meaning I spend $15 for six good bottles of beer -- learned my lesson).

Next time I spy Double Take on the shelf, I'll turn away without a second thought.
