Dark black in color with a thin trace of beige head that covers half of the top of the beer. Brussels lacing. Aroma of a blend of pine like and tropical hops. The hop bite is subtle and yet a bit stronger in the aftertaste. It mingles well with the dark malt. There's a bit of black licorice battling with the hops. The mouth is a bit sticky and chewy.

On tap at the brewery. Served in a snifter.
Appearance - Dark body. Reddish flecks in the light. Off white head.
Smell - Grapefruit and grassy hop aroma. Dark fruits and some roasted malts.
Taste - Hoppy up front with some grainy malt and caramel sweetness. Dark fruits and roasted coffee malts round it out.
Mouthfeel - Medium body, pushing medium heavy. Medium carbonation.
Overall - It's ok, but not very distinct or memorable. Just a mess of flavors that don't usually work together.

16oz pour on tap at Bailey's Range in St. Louis, MO. Served in a snifter glass today, 4/6/2014.
App-very dark cola brown, nearly black. Comes with a one finger tan head with phenomenal retention. Even at the end of lunch the head was still a thick fluffy film on top. Spots of lacing.
Smell- slightly charred malt, nutty, sweet dark malt that isn't too roasted at all. Some yeast esters that add some dark fruit. Good, not intense even as it warms up.
Flavour- mostly nutty dark fruits and a bit of sweet dark malt. Not complex and the profile doesn't seem to agree at all.
Mouthfeel- thin bodied, not quite watery. Good carbonation. Decent beer to sip on.
Overall- decent take on the BSDA style but you'll do better with the likes of Allagash Odyssey or Russian River Salvation.

Pours a clear, dark brown color. 1/4 inch head of an off-white color. Good retention and great lacing. Smells of roasted malt, sweet malt, nuts, strong earthy malt, hint of spice, and hint of alcohol. Fits the style of Belgian Dark Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of roasted malt, earthy malt, sweet malt, hint of hop, hint of alcohol, slight spice, and hint of chocolate. Good appearance, unusual aroma, and good body. Overall, an interesting beer that does not compare easily to other Belgian Dark's, but nevertheless is a good beer.
