The Last Word is our first installment in the "Dealer's Choice" series. The Last Word is a tart golden ale brewed with key lime, wintergreen, and wormwood, a nod to an illicit Prohibition-era tipple of the same name. Brewed in collaboration with our friends at The Aviary in Chicago.

Bottled July 2014
L - Pours an amber body with hints of gold with a light tan one finger head. No real lacing or retention.
S - Somewhat muted nose to me. Definitely picking up some lime and malts, but nothing really discernible.
T - An awesome mix of tart key limes and sweet malts. Herbs, citrus and lactic acidity are secondary flavors.
F - Light bodied and medium carbonation. It has a dry finish.
O - Super fun and complex beer. So unique and the key lime really pops without being over done.

A hazy orange brew with two fingers of tan froth. All kinds of sour fruits such as pear, orange, lemon and peach aroma-wise. Good mix of sweet and tart with a sour dough core. Sugar, a hint of spice, pear, orange, lime, herb and peel in the finish. Medium bodied and dry. Tartness is kept in check with the sweet fruitiness. The lime is a good touch. Think I'm gonna actually finish the magnum, which is a testament to my growing like of sours or the fact that this one is pretty tame. The latter is probably more like it.

Bottle at the brewey.
The key lime really shows with this beer. A nice amount of sour as well. Green apple tartness. Not sure what wormwood is. Lots of citrus and lemon acidicity. Reminds me of a soured key lime pie whatever that may taste like.
Very enjoyable! Easy to drink.

Deep gold in color with a light haziness. No head is present but carbonation bubbles pop up from within the depths. Aroma is an odd conglomeration of lime and mint. The taste is pleasantly sour lactic acid, lime, and mint along with some light malt. The mouth is heavily carbonated, tart, and yet the mint and lime tingle your tastebuds in an oddly refreshing way. Truly a unique experience. It definitely improves as it warms.
