Picked up in a trade from Maryland. Poured into a small Stone branded snifter.
Pours viscous dark black with a thin tan head that dissipates after a few sips, nice lacing from start to finish. Nose is earthy and peppery, plum and toasted malt, sweet chocolate, black liquorish. The taste is absolutely phenomenal - similar to the nose, very earthy, dark toasted malt, raisin, bitter dark chocolate and as it warms up a bit the cinnamon and chilies really come through, with a little warmth on the back end from the high ABV. A lot going on, but in perfect harmony - extremely well balanced flavors. The mouthfeel is perfect for the style - big bodied, creamy, moderate carbonation, finishes extremely dry.
Such a good Imperial Stout.
