750mL bottle poured into tulip - thanks to hooliganlife
Pours a deep, dark, near-blacked out color with a thinner tanned head resting on top. Faint retention with filmy coating and spotty lacing on the glass.
Absolutely wonderful nose with an excellent mix of spices - cinnamon, vanilla beans, chile spice. Chocolate and toasted dark malts with cocoa and light sweetness. Faint alcohol warmth.
Combination of warmth from chiles and sweetness from chocolate and vanilla beans up front. Cinnamon and spice throughout the profile, which is masterfully balanced with the roasted dark malts. Sweetness driven by cocoa and dark chocolate. Finishes with chile spice, vanilla and light boozy heat.
Full body, well carbonated, chewy and creamy on the tongue. I LOVE the idea of chiles and spice in beers, but rarely are they ever executed this well. Next to Hunahpu's, this is one of my favorite non-barrel aged stouts of all time.
