Thanks to Ksodemann for hooking me up with this along with other Perennial gems.
Poured from 750 bottle to a mini snifter taster glass. Very dark cola brown in color with light tan carbonation that slowly subsided.
Very evident smells of spearmint chewing gum with light notes of roasted malts. I had trouble detecting any the cacoa nibs or chocolate to speak of. Aroma did not change with temp increase.
Similar tastes as aroma. The mint presents itself quite strongly. The mint leaves used in the brewing give it more of a menthol like herbal mintiness which I didn't care much for. Malt and hop balance seems to be done very well though. Chocolate or cacoa nibs very difficult to detect on the palate. The smooth roasted malt profile saved the overall taste for me.
Mouthfeel was average for a stout but smooth and not astringent like other mint stouts I've tried.
Overall, this beer was okay for me. I was hoping to detect more chocolate. I've yet to try the BA version. Anxious to see how the flavors profiles evolved.
