We brew this amber colored autumn lager every year for our great friend Kevin Willman of Farmhaus. Brewed with German Pilsner and German Munich Malt, this light crisp lager has a nice bready backbone with a light cracker finish. Unfiltered and crushable, this beer keeps you going through the fall months.

On draft at Perennial on Lockwood. Poured out a clear, golden amber color with a small, white head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of roasted malt, caramel and toffee. Sweet and malty. Mild bitterness.

i would call this more of a marzen type than a helles, a flavorful amber lager and a very well executed beer. not the kind of thing these guys are most known for, but further proof that they really can do it all here, never a bad beer from perennial! this was actually a nice respite from the heavy stouts and sours we were primarily drinking when we were in. this obviously makes use of german ingredients, its appreciable in both the malt and the yeast, some richness without the sweetness on the grain side and a bready yeast complexion that makes this quite authentic. subtle toffee or caramel to it, but dry later on, crackery from some pils malt in the mix, minerals from the water are here too, earthy in a unique way, tastes and feels just right for fall, with a luxurious feel and not too much body. the carbonation is higher, there is a warming toasted element that adds depth but doesnt diminish refreshment value, and there is a real clean finish from the lager yeast, even crisp for its color. a real well made beer, a total drinker in autumn weather, and another perennial beer to applaud. everything they touch is gold, even when its something outside of their wheelhouse like this!

poured from a 16oz can into a dimpled mug. pours a light amber with a two finger sandy colored head. aromas of bready malts and clean lager yeast. taste is similar. doughy, dark rye bread with a clean, semi-crisp finish. full mouthfeel thanks to the lower level of carbonation on this one. a damn fine Märzen and another stellar lager from Perennial. it’s simple yet true to the style. and while it seems heavier than a typical lager, it’s still easy drinking. i look forward to this one every year now.

Dark straw appearance with some head and carbonation. Nice fruity aroma. Taste is a little weak fruity taste that is a letdown from appearance and aroma.
