Fantastic Voyage is an Imperial Milk Stout brewed with coconut. We also added lactose sugar to give it a creamy mouth feel and a bit of sweetness. The roasted malts and coconut meet the hops bitterness to deliver a full rich finish. Fantastic Voyage has notes of chocolate that make it a great fit for enjoying after dinner with dessert or even a cigar. Brewed in collaboration with Jim Leabig.

bottle into glass
bottled: 9/28/17
Very thin, light brown head. Residue on glass looks somewhat oily. Look is basically a completely opaque black. Smell starts off with a sweet cocoa, caramel and coconut melange, with a little, very dark roasted grains and black olive. Lighter body than expected. Taste is a slightly dark malted grain with a pinch of toasted coconut, in a restrained manner. A very little bit of a cocoa and cola note, also in there. Pretty good sipper.

This Milk Stout brewed with Coconut was bottled 9/28/17 (opened 3/27/20): Nose of slight alcohol with a coconut nuance & malt sweetness; very fine tan rim lace; soft/medium mouthfeel with low & smooth carbonation; chest warming; Taste of moderate bitter bark & prune with a bit of coconut backnote. The taste finishes a bit watery and diminishes quickly. The "thinness" and disappointing finish takes away from the quality of this product.

L: A lighter shade of a typical stout.
S: A strong burst of cacao and chocolate with a hint of coconut on the backside.
T: Very flat and smooth choco flavor. No surprises but a simple drink.
F: Very light with coconut flavor.
O: Another light stout. Unlike the others, it is very simple and smooth.

Aroma is dark/sludgy malts and chocolate/dark chocolate. The flavor is chocolate/dark chocolate, sludgy dark malts, fruit and a slightly sweet/acidic/warming alcoholic finish.

From a pint can with a best by date of 08/23/19. Served in a tulip.
Pours like used motor oil with a scant finger of creamy, coffee-and-oak mottled head which dies back almost instantly leaving a wisp of fizz in its wake.
Strong aroma of - and I hate to say this - urine. Am I going to drink it anyway? You bet I am! But I’m going to let it sit for a few minutes because, even though it’s been out of the fridge for over an hour, it’s still a little too cold and nobody wants to drink cold pee.
Taste is... OK, it tastes fucking awful. It tastes like cold burnt coffee that somebody pissed in.
Sorry.

2017 version purchased heavily discounted at the local organic market.
Didn’t realize it was summer release beer. I’m enjoying during an impending winter storm.
Strong, yet balanced and smooth coconut and milk chocolate scents and tastes. Sweeter than my preferences but not cloyingly so.
The name makes sense now. Decent stout if in the mood for coconut
