The beer pours out black with a fluffy brown head.
The aroma is wonderful. Green fresh pine, lots of grapefruit, citrus, and some roasted malt and coffee in the back.
The flavor follows with these notes with a lots of fresh citrus, and then a deep roasted coffee note. The finish has a good amount of piney bitterness.
A really great beer for this style.

Had on tap at the brewery, 4/19/2013
Appearance: Pitch black on the pour, this is a very nice looking black ipa. Leaves a 1 finger creamy brown/tan head. Head sticks around during the entire time.
Smell: Lots of pine, slight hint of citrus, a bit of grapefruit. Also get some roast from the malt, but not much.
Taste: Very smooth, nice bitterness to it but not overwhelming. Light carbonation.
