On-tap at Hopleaf. Served in a Hopleaf tulip.
A - White foam settles to a partial cap, thick collar, and splotchy lace. Hazed mango flesh body with streams of tiny bubbles visible on the sides of the glass.
S - A mix of spicy yeast, fruity esters, catty hops and tropical fruits, over top of a bready malt backdrop. It's a Belgian IPA alright.
T - The taste is heavier on the Belgian yeast and citrus zest flavors, with less pungency to the hops and lower sweetness. Tangy yeast and moderate bitterness in the finish, but not excessively so. With this balance of flavors and ABV level I feel this is more of a hoppy Belgian strong than a Belgian IPA.
M - Zesty carbonation, medium body, with a bit of grain to the texture. Quite dry, with only a trace of the listed 8.2%.
D - It's a well-made interpretation of a style that I don't generally love. I'd prefer a bit more hops and a bit less yeast, but if you dig this type of flavor combination this should be a winner.

Pours a copper/gold color. 1/2 inch head of a white color. Good retention and good lacing. Smells of citrus hops, floral hops, yeast, slight grass, herbs, and slight sweet malt. Fits the style of a Belgian IPA. Mouth feel is sharp and clean, with a low carbonation level. Tastes of citrus hops, floral hops, sweet malt, slight grass, herbs, hint of lemon, hint of yeast, and a hint of wheat. Overall, very complex body, also a good aroma, blend, and feel.
