I had this on tap last night at the Firkin in Libertyville after I saw my co-worker drinking one. It looked so good that I had to try it.
This is the highest rating I have given to a beer yet. I don't believe in giving a beer all 5's but it was very tempting with this one. The best way to describe this beer is "WOW". I am a big fan of Belgian Ales, Chimay, Delirium etc, but I think this is the best of them all. I have to go back and have another.
It was served to me in a ST. Bernardus chalice. The pour was very dark with a beautiful one or two finger head. This beer is very complex; fruit, hops, alchohol all are present. But most of all it is smooth and very drinkable. It was gone before I knew it.
I will definately pick up a couple of the 750ml bottles to try at home. And as I said, I have to go back to the bar to enjoy this again. Maybe I should take my time drinking the next one.

A: Clear tree bark brown, soapy head (this bottle is literally overflowing just upon its opening). Some large debris is visible. Bonus points for the ridiculous head (it won't stop!), but I am a little worried about what happened to cause that/how long it's been on the shelf.
S: Pungent, several inches above my glass I'm still getting strong aromas of plum, mild malt, a touch of sweetness. Very clean.
T: Same as above, hints of caramel in addition. Initial taste is dry, mild sweetness on the finish. No alcohol trace, impressive.
M: Silky, soft, padded, but nowhere near flat. Somewhat astringent. Honestly one of the most impressive mouthfeels I've ever tasted.
O: A classic example of a quad. Not overly complex, but with plenty of depth. Standard-setting.
