Bottle into St. Bernardus tulip, from Het Beste Biertje in Málaga, Spain.
Apprarance: dark cloudy mahogany brown with lots of sediment, 1 finger off white head with intricate lacing
Smell: dark fruits, figs, plums, belgian yeast, some oak notes
Taste: dark fruits are very dominant, notes of dark chocolate, burnt/candied sugar, subtle banana, and a some spices (can't put my finger on it exactly, some pepper and coriander with a hint of clove maybe). Roasted malt backbone is also very sweet and somewhat dry, aftertaste is so enjoyable its hard to just sip on, you want to drink it very fast.
Mouthfeel: high carbonation, medium-thick syrupy, creamy body.
Overall: Had back to back with a Westvleteren 12, so similar yet this one is a little less sweet, and the dark fruit notes are a little less overripe, and a little less sweet. Very similar but hype aside, i prefer the mythical Westvleteren 12 by a hair. I currently habe both cellaring so I will review both again in about a years time.
