Abt 12 is a beer that changed my life. Before I tried it, I was your typical college senior who had tasted a few strong craft brews, maybe enjoyed one or two, but for whom beer did not yet 'click'. When I was at the bar and saw this sitting in the cooler, I had a foggy recollection of a "greatest beers" list I had seen somewhere with this on it, and so I bought a bomber. At first taste, I knew this was everything I had always hoped beer would be, and that I had to keep seeking out stuff like this. That is the moment I fell in love with beer.
The pour that I'm reviewing now is from draft. It pours a muddy ruby color with a 2 1/2-finger pillow of moussy head. The nose brings clean and sweet bread malts, plum skin, cherry, wild earthy yeast, brown sugar, and caramel. It tastes rich and sweet in its malty goodness with dark fruit esters, especially plum and raisin, playing a huge role. There's also a toasted oat/nutty character to the beer, some coriander and other spices from the yeast, and big bread flavor on the finish. It has the perfect carbonation to pry open the taste buds without overdoing it, and a medium body that hides the alcohol well.

A- Hazy reddish brown in the glass. 2 finger, soapy head. Pretty good lacing.
S- Mainly dark fruits. Raisin, grape, and some cherry. I get a slight whif of banana from time to time. Reminds me of red wine.
T- Grape, dark cherry, dates, slight booze, and dark bread.
M- Medium body. Lightly creamy and not overly drying. very easy drinking.
O- I enjoyed this beer. Very easy drinking for a bigger beer. Nice flavors and aroma as well.

Had this from a 22oz. bottle at Madame Janette's in Aruba.
WOW! what a find. Succulent dark and sticky fruits and yeasty spice explode from the goblet. It is a symphony of luscious malty sweets and warming alcohol goodness. Very promising.
One sip and I'm addicted to this beer for life! There are layers of fruits to pull apart; plum, green melon, figs, banana, dark cherries, and more. It's delightfully yeasty, with raw dough and all the accompanying spice. There's a nibble of artfully added hops toward the end. It's sweet and fruity while maintaining it's dignity.
The mouthfeel is medium big, with a very creamy, full texture. It's ever so gently carbonated and really feels like velvet in my mouth. I lick my goblet clean when I am finished, it's that good!
