A 330ml bottle with a BB of Oct 2015. Purchased from the York Beer & Wine shop.
Poured into a Duvel chalice. A dark amber-brown hue with hazy yeast sediment and strong carbonation. Produces a massive head of frothy light-brown foam that remains for a few minutes before reducing to a surface layer. A rich, fruity aroma with notes of brown sugar, banana, figs, prunes, yeast esters, hints of spice and a big whiff of alcohol. Possesses a dry, vinous complexity.
The taste has a sweetish, fruity character with a dry, boozy finish. Notes of bananas, brown sugar, figs, dried fruit, cake, yeast and spice. A warming hit of alcohol upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is silky smooth and tingly, with considerable astrigency. The body is perfect - neither too thick nor too thin. Aftertaste of fruity yeast.
Impressive - rich and tasty. A smooth and complex quad that deserves the acclaim heaped upon it. Swirling it around the mouth is a pleasure. Not one I'd want to imbibe every day, but a must try for any beer lover.

Murky dark brown body with a most impressive, foamy tan head, 4 fingers high. Nose of raisins, malt, some sweetness and a bit of booze. Dark fruit taste with some breadiness, malt, and a lingering light sweet taste. Medium body and carbonation. If the body was a touch heavier, I would love this beer to death. World class beer, simply.
