Dark brown color with a hint of red. Large fluffy tan head that didn't linger long for me. Aroma is full of cherry, fig and caramel notes that come through in the taste as well. Slight alcohol taste that fades quickly. Nice full body, though less than might be expected, medium-high carbonation. medium yeast flavor. Low bitterness and lots of malt character.

Definitely one of the best if not the best beers in it's class, highly recommended.

Dark brown with a nice fluffy tan head.

Smells like dark fruits, figs, dates, plums, cherry, bready yeastiness as well.

Tastes like it smells. Heaven in my mouth. Lots of dark fruits, very bready, like a fig newton, vanilla, caramel, maybe some coffee as it warms up a bit, alcohol is well hidden.

Mouthfeel is warm, medium to high carbonation, medium bodied, smooth, easy-drinking beer.

Overall this is my first quadrupel/Belgian strong dark ale and I am completely blown away. As soon as I took the first sip I knew this was the best beer I have ever had. BSDA/quads may well be my new favorite style.

Served on tap at Lucky Baldwins into a chimay chalice, review from notes.

Pours a nice dark opaque burgundy color, big lively caramel/bone colored head, lots of fizzy bubbles, leaves behind a touch of lacing, not much, no real head retention, pretty standard for the style. The aroma is pleasant, lots of yeast up front, dark fruits, a bit of alcohol sweetness and some dark grain. The flavors are wonderful, lots of yeast, cherry, fig, plum, grain, sweetness from the alcohol, which is less detectable, but the yeast provides so much flavor here and it's balanced very well. The body is a bit thinner and crisper than I'd like, not as thick and syrupy as some of the other famous quads.

Verdict: This is definitely one of the best beers that's as available as it is. Not sure it quite ranks up there with Rochefort 10 and Westy 12 but it's damn good and so easy to get.

preface this by saying belgians will never be my thing. there's two belgian style beers i love and both are made in america, weyerbacher tiny and lagunitas little sumpin' wild.

pretty color, tons of carbonation, too fizzy, i wound up using my 4 oz taster with a real tight pour to lose some of the fizziness.

smells and tastes apples, pears, little cherry. not bad, but a bit of a chore to finish the 25 oz. very warming and alcohol hidden nicely.

overall 3rd time ive had this and it will be the last. recently got more, better fruit flavor from an absolutely delicious, super fresh sixer of troegenator.

Huge, fluffy head with big bubbles caps a dark brown and cloudy liquid. Heavy lacing all the way down the snifter. Looks wonderful and inviting.

Smells of belgian yeast, much like many triples and quads from belgium.

Malt, dark fruits and yeast. With the high ABV, the alcohol is very well hidden. Not too sweet, but a good amount of sugar and even a hint of tartness. Complex flavors but not over done.

Easy drinking for such a big beer. Mouthfeel couldn't be better for a Quad.

Overall this is a great beer. Tastes good, looks great, smells like it should and it's not hard to drink. There are quite a few quads and triples made in NA, but none compare to this beast of a beer. The only knock I have on it is the price, there are some beer that just a little bit weaker than this that are nearly half the price. Maybe even cheaper.
