Poured from 11.2 oz bottle into St Bernardus chalice.

Pours a muddy brown color that has a light fluffy head that diminishes quickly to a light film. Appears to have low carbonation. Light lacing.

Aroma is deep and complex. Very malt forward and full of belgian yeast qualities. Reeks of sweet dark fruits, including raisins and figs.

Very complex and intricate flavor that matches the aroma quite well. Dark, sweet, malt really dominate the flavor, but really nicely rounded out by the belgian yeast qualities. Had a nice dose of dark fruits, spiciness, and warming alcohol (tad bit of rum flavoring). A little bit of a molasses, brown sugar-esque quality as well.

Perfect mouthfeel. Nice fuller body and just enough carbonation. Perfect balance of drinkability and alcohol, making it a nice sipper.

Great quad. Will have to revisit some of the other big names to see how it compares. Great balance and complexity. As of now, if I wanted to show someone what a quad should be like, it would be this one.

Bottle poured into a St Bernardus Goblet

A: Poured a dark brown color with a good fingers worth of off white head that slowly settled to a thin layer (a little spotty) Not as much lacing as I had hoped.

S: First thing I'm getting is a little like wine... hints of dark fruits, brown sugar, a little toast and sweet malt.. Very complex and wonder smelling.

T: Dark fruits, grapes and raisin to start.. Then there is a malty bread like flavor mix with rum... Finish is clean and sweet with a little alcohol warmth.

M: Medium bodied with a sharp carbonation that settles as it warms up.

O: Wild ride on this one.. at 10% one will do you... Smell and taste are a wonderful experience, appearance and mouthfeel lose a little points but overall you must try this beer.

Great beer for my 400th review....

11.2 in St. Bernardus Goblet

A- Unclear brown with a half finger head, lots of little particles floating around in mine.
S- Whoo, lots of raisins and figs, plum and other dark fruits that seem to have been caramelized. Strong, sweet and fruity.
T- Sugary dark fruits, the alcohol is there but you really cant taste it. Caramel malt with some biscuit notes. Every sip has a few different flavors I didn't notice before. Let this one sit out for a little while to experience all the flavors. Excellency
M- Goes down pretty easy. Lots of carbonation, has a creamy texture in your mouth. Definitely a warming sensation but at 10%, kinda expected.
O- This beer is excellent, if you have never had it, go get it.
