On tap at Cleveland's Bier Markt- served in a 12 oz tulip with a small head. Appears to be a dark amber color (sorry dim lighting in the bar makes it difficult to determine). Has minimal head retention and no lacing. Smells mostly of yeast but has some hints of nutty malts. The taste is medium bodied with the same nuttiness and yeastiness as the smell. It is well carbonated and not syrupy at all. It tastes different on draft than in the bottle but of course still very enjoyable and drinkable.

A - A dark brown with one finger of creamy head - plenty of lacing throughout.

S - Rasins, Prunes, Vanilla, Yeast - plenty of sweet dark fruit aroma. The smell was fantastic.

T - A few sweet, fruity flavor. It finished very smooth - all the aromas that came out in the smell were captured in the taste. It all blended together quite well.

M - Light body, medium carbonation.

O - Fantastic Quad - the alcohol was masked very well through all the fruit flavors that came out. One of these beers that you could certainly drink multiples of, however with being 10%, it'd get you into some trouble.

Blind BIF

A-Bottle poured into tulip glass. The beer pours a chestnut brown, cola-like head with 2 finger creamy head which dissipates pretty quickly after pouring. I get a bit of sediment when I hold the glass to the light. 3.5

S-Very complex. Not sure exactly what we have here. Lots of spice, figs, raisins, red wine perhaps? Some cinnamon, vanilla and caramel sweetness plays nicely as well. 4.0

T-Wow. This beer is for sure a first for me, as I would have remembered. No detectable booze, LOTS of dark fruit flavors come through. Candy sugar, vanilla, and Belgian yeast. All of these mingle with a nice, creamy sweetness. This is a damn good beer. 4.5

M-Medium bodied with the perfect amount of carbonation. Every sip was a treat and the sweetness was never too much. Just about perfect. 4.5

O- I am not too familiar with Belgian styles such as quads, tripels and dubbels. I am assuming this is one of the previously stated. I am guessing a quad, as it is SO complex and delicious. Whatever it is, I want more. 4.5

The reveal- St. Bernardus Abt 12.

I have seen this beer around, and never pulled the trigger. Thank you for this, and it is going to become a part of my regular rotation. I have had a Westy 12 in the past, and as previously stated, this style is not one I have a lot of experience with. However, I would take this over the Westy I had any day. Thanks Kevin.

Got a bottle at Halftime for around 6 bucks (12oz)

A - A very dark looks Quad, very hazy with only some light making it through. A sample pour (my brothers) produced a massive 3 inches of head. My pour was only a half an inch which has some very sticky lacing. Cool.

S - My god no Alcohol smell and a great medially of plum, raisin, figs, and Belgium sugars. Smells great even after it warms.

T - All the flavors pretty much mesh perfectly to deliver a punch of dark fruits. Brewed so well this beer has no alcohol flavors to speak of and a semi sweet finish with sugars. Lovely.

M - If this doesn't get a perfect mouth feel I don't know what can. Clean, refreshing, and no noticeable ABV. I would be so happy in Belgium pounding these for around domestic price.

A: pours a dark brown color with lighter highlights and a thick tan head.

S: spice and fruity yeast, roasted malt, sweetness, and some earthiness.

T: taste is much the same as the smell, but beautifully smooth and creamy. Some sweetness comes out.

M: creamy and delicious with great carbonation and medium-heavy body.

O: fantastic, available, and doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
