Poured from a corked and caged 750 ml bottle into a chalice glass, at about 45 degrees.

A: Pours a crystal clear dark gold showing very vigorous carbonation. Head is not particularly large, but it forms an egg-white like cap that clings to the glass. Lacing is beautiful. One of the prettiest tripels I've seen.

S: Dried apple skins, a little banana and some bubble gum on the nose, although even as the beer warms it does not release much aroma.

T: On the palate one finds freshly baked bread, some apple and pear, and a bit of spice. A little banana, but no clove. The flavor fades to a fairly sweet finish, showing perhaps a hint of toffee or candi.

M: On the tongue, I perceive less carbonation than expected in light of the rapidly flying bubbles in the glass.

D: Perhaps a bit cloying for a tripel; not as dry as one might expect.

Overall: This is a very nice tripel, with a few characteristics that strike me as minor flaws. It is a gorgeous beer in the glass. Its flavor and aroma profile is on the milder side. The only issue in my view is that it is a bit too sweet for the style. Definitely a good example of an abbey tripel, though, and well worth seeking out.

Bottle dated 25 04 16 at 45 degrees into
Aroma fruity
Head average (4 cm), white, fizzy, rapidly diminishing to 2 mm layer
Lacing spotty, few small irregular islands of small bubbles
Body light yellow, hazy
Flavor light and somewhat fruity with no distinct fruit flavors. No alcohol, no hops, no malt, no diacetyl. Ends quickly.
Palate light, watery, very lively carbonation

Very champagne-like, nice aroma, average appearance, not much flavor, nice palate. This was part of a St. Bernard mixed pack.

Belgian ale is still a style I'm fairly inexperienced in, and I've never knowingly tried a Tripel before. I definitely intend to try more Belgian beer in the future, because this stuff is really good!

It poured a pale to golden body with a finger of white head. The aroma was zesty and fruity, with hints of orange and lemon

It tasted mostly as I would expect a Belgian beer to taste based on my limited experience, low on hops but very malty and full bodied with moderate carbonation. As with other Belgian beers it is deceptive: you wouldn't guess it had a higher ABV.

All in all a great beer. I must explore more Belgian beer in the future.
