Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tulip glass.
A - pours an opaque chestnut color. Has a two finger head that dissipates surprisingly quickly. Leaves a slight rim of foam around the edges and a bit of foam bubbling up at the surface.
S - raisins and dark fruit dominate, with some yeast and alcohol notes in the background. A little spiciness in the background, not sure what that is.
T - sweet fruits and yeast, with some spice flavors. Tastes like a good Belgian abbey style beer should. Some hop character, but to be honest, it's hard for me to isolate all the different flavors. All in all, delicious.
M - light to medium bodied, with nice fizzy carbonation - nothing too major here, but compliments the flavor.
O - very good. As with most Abbey style beers, I would not want to have more than one at a shot, but it's very enjoyable.
Edit - after a long and arduous quest, I have discovered that this is one of three beers my wife will drink. Success.
