Paid $13.99 for the 4-piece sampler with 'sniffer' glass...
This ale pours a hazy amber golden base with a huge white head, exceptional retention and very nice lacing effects on the glass. The aroma isn't too complex nor distinguished. I get a strong sense of malt and a sweet smell like lemon mixed with some alcohol.
The taste is supurb for a tripel. The body isn't too heavy but it's filling enough, the malt flavor is exceptional, the hints of fruit tones are adequate with the malt; however, the spices in this ale give the overall flavor a nice kick, but with the moderately strong body, is nearly perfect. The mouthfeel is smooth almost creamy in the mouth. The drinkability is a touch too heavy from perfection, but so close.
Final Thought: This Belgian is clearly the best that this brewery has to offer in terms of overall quality, which really says a lot...
