I had the pleasure of enjoying this one right from the tap at the Avondale brewery in Birmingham. It was a really great beer for relaxing on a sunny Spring day, and looked fabulous. Nice, brown, and even, it might be my new favorite Avondale brew. It finished really clean and didn't have that candy sweet mouthfeel that so many Browns leave me with.

A - Light mahogany brown in color. Light cream colored head about one finger thick.

S - Predominant abbey/fruity notes with gentle roasted malt character. Lightly hopped.

T - Strong caramel and toasted bread notes. Vibrant but subtle bitter hop notes which balance well with the caramel. Finishes much like the aroma of a belgian abbey with hints of prune and raisin.

M - Creamy and coats the palate with medium body. Rich and somewhat lingering.

O - Drinkable and finishes clean. Good Belgian abbey notes without tartness. Solid caramel and toasted malt backbone as is expected of a brown ale.
