Two-row malt, meet Nelson Sauvin and Citra. Fast friends indeed. As sleek as a 9% DIPA can be with the sharp hop tone of lemon peels filled in by orange marmalade and just utter dankness. And you thought those tankers off-shore were just unloading crude...

On tap at the Library Alehouse. Poured into a tulip glass- light amber/orangs color. Decent lacing and head retention. Impressive so far, however the nose is a bit curious for the style. There's a funky, cheesy quality with a dash of spice (cinnamon in particular). Some of the malts come through, though more secondary.
More malts are delivered in taste, but the full, slightly acidic mouthfeel takes over in a pleasant way. Flavorwise I'm still getting cinnamon and spice. Was someone trying to make a pumpkin beer without the pumpkins? The finish is nice and bitter-a return to style. I may sound a little condescending since the character is unexpected for a DIPA, but I still found this beer highly drinkable.

Hop Tanker 10?/20/23 pours clean golden color, some carbonation and a dense 1 finger head. Smells of light malt, citrus and fruit. The taste is bitter up front enhanced by strong flavors of citrus and finishing dry. Overall a good DIPA maybe just a hint dry and bitter for my love of West Coast Styles. @RaulMondesi is the BEST!

Hop Tanker really does do it. This isn’t a ship with a haul of frisbees so the frat boys can giggle and have their fun. This ship has confetti poppers and KY Jelly to each their own). Yeah, HP pulls into the port of San Pedro and the party is on.

BOD 3/11/16. Pours a clear dark gold with a touch of garnet. Outstanding head volume, world class lacing and retention.
Outstanding nose of dank citrus (lemon) over a nice cracker biscuit. Underneath are hints of light spruce and grape.
Light medium body that is smooth. Well balanced carbonation level for the body with a light effervescence in the middle and a nice prickly finish.
The flavor profile is very good. The 9.2% alcohol is reasonably covered, but does deliver a somewhat strong astringency before, during and after the finish. Balance is world class with a rich sweet (caramel, biscuit) middle providing balance to a moderate bitterness. Here the flavors separate, allowing hop complexity to shine. Mango, lemon, light spicy spruce and subtle zest flow over the dank undercurrent. As the sweetness fades, so go the hop flavors and the dank aspect, slightly vegetal, dominates. The finish is dry with a dank and somewhat strong astringent alcohol off flavor that lingers.
