Poured from the bottle into a Spiegelau IPA glass.

Bright bursting dark orange, darker almost light red towards the top, nearly shiny, with some faint rising carbonation coming up. Thick four finger head, soapy retention, and a big blob in the middle. Settles a bit fast than most large IPAs I've witnessed. The color is very impressive.

Great bursting fruit aroma. Hints of light crystal sugars, and fruit tangerine. Hits a slight grapefruit but much sweeter on the hop front. A bit of woody warmth on the hop angle and spiced to play a bit as well, almost peppery. Lovely play of aromas bouncing off here.

Palate comes after this surprisingly not as impressive. Spiced hop angle, and pine blasting. Fruit quality much less noticeable in flavor. A somewhat chalky mouthfeel, with much of the drying hop finish exacerbating the quality. Some bitter zest and rindy quality with time and warmth coming. Sticky finish too, almost a pine sticky sap quality. Quite an interesting bounce of flavors here.

The surprising thing, is that from the aroma the beer comes off disappointing hinting from greatness to be expected. But in the end it still comes off very enjoyable.

Whipped up head with a majority of larger bubbles which hurts overall retention, crests over two fingers, darker eggshell white, the lacing has adequate stickiness, nothing special. The liquid itself is on the darker side, an orangish brown more than red, fades to yellow at the rims, the bubbles are tiny and widely dispersed but display very good activity. At once the nose has clarity among the elements and one big thick whomp upside your head, loaded with pine sap, white grapefruit pulp, tar, pepper and melted caramel, the fruit is sweetly tropical like ripe mango and papaya, not so much tarter pineapple, sticks to your nostril hairs like glue and lingers for a considerable amount of time. Full-bodied to the point of immobility, even the soft and fluffy carbonation barely gets it moving. So it does offer a somewhat monolithic experience. As one would expect, you get a lot more bitterness on the palate, tauter pine and grassy notes. Mixes some lemon and blood orange into the white grapefruit. The caramel to butterscotch is there but woven in. Absence of fruit is curious, what’s there is mostly peach, nectarine, papaya and, here, pineapple. Dusting of cocoa powder. A lot going on, and in a confined space, but you have to give it credit, it pulls it all together somehow.

Bomber > Pint Glass

A - Cloudy orange gold with 1.5 fingers of off white thick foamy head, medium lacing
S - Aroma is really good on this, sweet caramel malt, some toasted hints in there, pine, orange marmalade, overly ripe pineapple, mango, papaya.
T - Taste is a little of a fall off for me, defintiely get the mango, and a nice earthy pine bitter bite, the malt is a forerunner. Granted the bottle I have may be a little dated. Still there's a good balance of hops to malt here, and good flavor.
M - Very balanced, not too clingy sweet, decent bitter hop lingering.
O - Good IPA, glad to have gotten it. Lots of sweet fruit in the aroma that make it stand out.

Appearance: Copper with a reddish hue. Eggshell head with nice foam that settled to a half finger. Fair amount of lace. Translucent with a minor amount of carbonation visible.

Smell: The nose has sweeter hop of notes mango and pine, but has a nice tart grapefruit presence as well. There is a sweeter malt note of caramel.

Taste: Sweeter hop notes of mango and pine. Finishes with more familiar bitter hop notes of grapefruit. The malt is there, but provides just the right amount of back to the beer.

Mouthfeel: Mild carbonation. Smooth. Slight tingle.

Overall: This is a strong IPA.. Sweeter notes of fruit that become enveloped by bitter hop notes of grapefruit and pine. Sweet and bitter at the same time. Mild malt back that is just the right amount. Highly drinkable and flavorful.
