22oz. bottle for $6.99

Look: Clear dark amber gold with thick vanilla head. Nice lacing as it goes down and lots of legs keeping the head nice a full.

Smell: Sweet citrus hits the nose with a surprisingly big sweet malt back bone. Getting pineapple, sour apple, lime, honey, white grapes, all wrapped up in a nice malty package

Taste: Bitter hop punch at first. Then honey covered lime which fades into more tart lime and lemon, pine, grapefruit, and more resiny pine. A sweet malt backbone brings up the rear but does nothing to had that piney bitterness that hit first.

Mouthfeel: Light on the tongue at first but the hops give it a sticky resin that fills out the body to a more medium body type.

Overall: The nose on this was quite nice. The taste on the other hand lost me a bit as the bitterness wrecked and nuances that nose had. Would love to see the bitterness tamed and more of that lime/sour apple meld with the pine! With all that being said this is just a good west coast IPA in a market filled to the brim with great ones.

22 ounce bomber poured into a Sierra Nevada Hop Tulip glass

A: Pretty clear, orange amber color, white head, not much lacing.

A: A slight tropical hop aroma, no alcohol on the nose, a decent smell.

T: Bitter, not getting much tropical citrus flavors, not much on the flavor. Bitterness lingers.

M: Juicy mouthfeel, medium does not finish dry.

O: I was expecting more than what I got, a basic IPA, nothing outstanding but does not disappoint. Probably would not buy again. Not my type of IPA.

Not bad for a basic IPA, but compared to the Double and Triple, I was slightly disappointed. A good average IPA if your not a Hop Head.

Beautiful rusty orange color with a decent head in the Affligem chalice. Pleasant piney aroma, though not notable for all the hops. Plenty of carbonation in the mouth that lasts well.

Quite bitter from the first sip. Clean flavors but acidic. Simple malty undertone with a thin body. This gets quite harsh after just a few sips. Tastes of juniper twigs, grapefruit pith, and mostly just bitterness. There is a hint of some fruity mango.

This will not disappoint the man who is looking for hop thrills. To me it's ludicrously bitter. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at the brewery in downtown El Segundo.

Bottle from Bine & Vine into a snifter. Surprisingly dark in color. Deep brownish red with a touch of orange. Frothy white head leaving scattered lacing. Good clarity. The aroma is old school IPA, with pine and grapefruit heavily backed by caramel and bready malt character, bringing sweetness to the table. There's a little onion and some juicy tropical character as the beer warms up. In the flavor, caramel malt blends with pine, orange, and grapefruit. Well balanced in every way. Not very bitter, mostly just hop flavor is contributed. No evident alcohol. Medium body with upper medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is sticky. Not an IPA rendition that I'm fond of these days. Too malty for me but solid if you're seeking a heavy dose of malt with your hops . I find the malt overshadows the hop profile.

On tap at El Segundo Brewing Company in El Segundo, CA.

Pours a clear dark orange with a foamy tan head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Thin rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, citrus zest, and alcohol. Taste is much the same with honey and citrus zest flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with some nice citrus forward aromas and flavors.

A well balanced IPA with sturdy malts and interesting hops. Nothing outstanding but far from disappointing.
