Picked up a 16 oz single can from the Kings Beer & Wine cooler 10-7-20 for $3.69. Canned 9-1-20; consumed 1-20-21. Cold stored since purchase.

Beer poured golden with a very nice white head that has some good hang time.

Nose is floral hops forward with a decent touch of citrus.

Taste is a moderate pale malt base that integrates well with a nice grapefruit, orange, and pine hopping. Finishes true west coast style with a nice piney bitterness; 8/10 on my bitterness scale.

Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and refreshing.

Overall a nice representation of the WCIPA!

This one is just weird. It’s like that one time I agreed to go on a double with my boy Enzo’s chick’s younger sister. Like, she looked pretty good walking down the driveway, and when she stepped into the whip, she smelled good too. But as the night led on, something was just a bit off about her. I mean, we all ordered steak while she just got dessert. Umm, ok... And then when we went out for a post order drink, she got a Shirley Temple. Like, I’m into weird, but how weird can you get? And Grand Holl is pretty weird (at least flavor wise). I mean, we’ll, you get the picture.

Peace!

Honestly, this one might be growing on me!

canned today, 8/14/20. crystal clear, yellow golden brew poured into a shaker pint. tons of fluffy lacing with a persistent head. lemony nose with a subtle hint of stone fruit, and some bready tones in the back. softer mouthfeel than i would expect, and lower CO2 levels than i prefer. more citrus on the tongue - tangerine and lemon? medium+ bitterness in more of the west coast style before the juicy/hazy craze. easy drinking for a 7.2%.

Great IPA. Great color and not overly carbonated. Like most IPA's, it has hints of hops, citrus and pine. Love the very minimal aftertaste. Love this refreshing IPA. Probably the best thing to come from El Segundo since Sanford & Son.

Bottled 7/18/18. Somehow got "lost" in my fridge.
L: Burnt orange color. A finger of bubbly white head with loads of lacing.
S: Aromas of malts, biscuit, pine, grapefruit and lemon. Slight dankness.
T: Grapefruit and lemon are dominant. Bold malt backbone with an earthy/pine finish.
F: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Fizzy on the tongue.
O: An enjoyable beer. A nice throwback to the old school WCIPAs. I would drink again, and would be curious to try when fresher. I am very glad to have tried. Cheers!

22oz bottle poured into a globe.

A: Dull golden color with great clarity. Off-white head retains well and leaves behind a lot of chunky lacing.

S: Loads of lemon zest and aromatic pine on the nose. Orange and hints of grapefruit beneath. Pinch of toasty grain from an otherwise neutral malt base.

T: Lemon peel, orange, and pithy grapefruit are all over the palate quickly. Some earthy and piney hop flavors start to ride up as well. Bitterness crests late on the mid-palate, and clamps down a bit. Toasty malt exists mostly as a canvas on which to paint the bold hop flavors. Earthy, oily, and catty/bitter hops close out a long finish.

M: Medium bodied. Moderate heft and a firm and creamy feel. Highly effervescent and scrubbing. Bit of that tannic enamel-scrape from the large hop addition.

O: True west-coast style here. It's a blend of some of the more venerable American hop strains, designed to be bold and unashamed of its IBUs. Citrus and pine, like the good Lord intended. These sorts of IPAs are becoming more scarce these days, and I miss them. Solid stuff.

22 oz. bottled on 08/01/17

Pours clear gold with a dense creamy white foam head. Smells like wildflowers, crackery honey malt, some tangerine peel, grapefruit, some tropical fruit, with woodsy dank floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Tastes like tangerine peel, juicy grapefruit, some tropical notes of pineapple, crackery honey caramelized malt, wildflowers, with bitter dank woodsy spicy floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Feels medium bodied, creamy with moderate carbonation. Overall a really nice IPA.

22oz bomber bottle into a nonic style glass
Noted on 07/29/15. Bottled 5 days prior 07/24/15

Burnished gold look with a touch of hop haze on it. Nice creamy lather of off white comes to rest over top. Light dotting and patch work of lace left behind.
Pine resin and tangerine-orange rind in the nose with a touch of softer complimentary fruit esters. Some malt sweetness to it albeit fairly limited.
More classic duo of orange zest and resinous pines. Nice bitter bite to it with some herbal elements and other fruits at play. Falls off rather quick though leaving you with nothing but bitter envy. Actually more like a washed out finish to it. Dry and frothy with some lingering pucker.
Not a bad brew and with its moments. Overall pretty unremarkable though. Just didn’t hold up for me.

22 ounce bottle poured into a tulip

A: Pours a deep golden orange with a bright full white head, lots of lacing, good head retention, lots of carbonation streaming up the sides.

A: Citrus, tangerine skins, touch of guava, peach, apricot, on the sweet and citrusy side, smells nice.

T: Follows the nose, tangerine skins, some guava, peach, touch of piney dryness, moderate amount of bitterness, finish is dry, pine and citrus linger in the aftertaste.

M: Light/medium bodied with a good amount of carbonation and a nice dry crisp finish.

O: Great appearance and aroma, but the taste falls short of both, still very enjoyable, drinkable and balanced, a solid beer, probably won't seek this one out again as I think El Segundo has better beers than this.

From 22 oz bomber to pint glass

Straight-up, West Coast style IPA. Clear, yellow-tan appearance, while it's hop forward, piney, rindy and bitter on the palate. Citrusy undertone with a crisp, quick finish. The nose is orange rind and sweet bread. Nothing fancy here, but refreshing and drinkable. Paired it with pan-fried pork chops, and the hop-forward bitterness cut nicely through the fat.
