Oude Gueuze Tilquin à l’Ancienne (6.0% alc/vol) is a spontaneous fermentation beer, produced from the blending of 1, 2 and 3 years old lambics. It is unfiltered and unpasteurized, and refermented in the bottle for at least 6 months. The lambics used were fermented and oak aged in our installations. These lambics are coming from worts brewed by Boon, Lindemans, Girardin and Cantillon breweries.

look: 3 | smell: 4 | taste: 4 | feel: 2 | overall: 4.25

Pours orange with a fading head.
Nose shows elderflower, gooseberries, green apple, soft horseblanket, light skunky notes. Quite a big apple juice character.
Flavours include tart green apples, old hops, gooseberries, horseblanket and a bold acidity.
Carbonation feels excessive.

BJCP 17E Gueuze
12.7 Fl oz bottle poured into two maple syrup glasses (excellent head and smell retention)
Pours a huge head initially that dissipates to a nice thin layer with some lacing left behind that drops back into the thin layer. Golden in color. Smell is earthy, hay and horseblanket. Mouthfeel is medium bodied. Taste is amazing. Simply put: a session sour. Some apple is left on the tongue with very light acid at the end.
Decent clarity (hard to pour this without some disturbance of the settled layer) and great carbonation.

Poured bottle into steamed wine glass. Smell is a lot of funk, grassy, some onion. Taste is full of lemon and other citrus, plenty of funk, earthy, oak, nice subtle malt. The carbonation is really nice. Overall I really liked this, I'm not very experienced with gueuze styles but I'm glad the guy at the shop recommended this
