Notes/Commercial Description:
The Gueuze Tilquin - draught version (4.8% alc/vol) is a spontaneous fermented beer, produced by blending a low alcohol lambic (called Meerts) and 1 and 2 years old lambics, all fermented and aged in oak barrels. It is unfiltered and unpasteurized, and it is refermented in the keg. The lambics used were fermented and oak aged in our installations. These lambics are coming from worts brewed by Boon, Lindemans, Girardin and Cantillon breweries.

On tap @ Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas (Brussels, Belgium) on 7/5/12. Served in a tumbler.

Pours a hazed apricot color in the glass, with a thin 1-2 fingers head of off-white foam. This maintains some rich edges, leaving back a cascade of light spotty lace. The aroma is bright and tart in the nose, with a touch of underlying cheesy funk. A gentle sugary sweetness mixes in off the edges.

The taste has a bracing tartness to it yet still manages to stay fairly refreshing. Touch of softer fruit is present, along with some mineral notes and a light sugary backing. Funk and wood comes in off the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a lively carbonation that hits the roof of the mouth before getting a little thicker feeling on the tongue. This has a pretty quaffable feel to it overall.

This is a really nice Gueuze that stayed more tart than sour and benefited from a sprightly feel in the mouth that helped keep this on drinkable side. I’m glad I tried this one.

On tap at Delirium Cafe

Excellent beer. Bartender recommended it and it was just what I was looking for. My Texan drinking buddy wasn't nearly as pleased, and was sick of me serving him sours.

The beer had a great barnyard character to it but also followed through with a very balanced sweet and tartness.

Quite enjoyable and was nice to try something I hadn't heard of.

On tap at Novare Res

Served in a tall glass with an emblem on the edge nice pale yellow straw color. 4

The aroma is tart sweet with an apples. The sweet and tart linger with an earthyness

The taste starts with a tart apple and slowly an almost woody earth flavor finishes nice

Had on tap at Moeder Lambic in Brussels. Pour is mostly transparent straw yellow with a tight off white head. The nose is nice, huge ridy chessy funk, light mineral note, sweet peach and some lemon with a touch of citrusy hop. The taste is less bright, notes of mineral and some lighter rindy funk. Light spice to it with a fair bit of sweetness in the back, light lemon and very subtle sourness. The body is light and airy, a bit active on the back of the tongue, not very dry and strong carbonation. Well rounded and tasty, a touch flabby, not as expresssive as 3F but decen funk. Should have a strong future.

Poured a light, seethru brownish body with some white head and lace. A somewhat sour, funky aroma, I pick up pears, grape skin and touch of citric (hop bitterness?) in aroma and very little malt base. Light bodied with a good sour funkiness, this beer isn't overpowering with its sour peak but instead mixes sourness with tart fruit and a little bit of oakiness and finishes with some sweetness (relatively speaking). Casual sipper that I really enjoyed w/ light dinner..
