S - Tart lemon, lactic acid, and sweet plums. The plums add a nice sweetness to the normally tart Tilquin nose

T - Tart lemon, good funky blue cheese, and a light plum presence that adds a slight sweetness.

M - Light dry funk with a dry finish that lingers on

O - Nice sour with a good plum presence that helps cut the overall tartness

375ml bottle at the Accent Lounge (or should I say, local hoarders of this brew?). And hardly a deal at 20+ ducats, either.

This beer pours a hazy, medium pinkish-orange amber hue, with one skinny finger of loosely foamy, bubbly, and stringy off-white head, which leaves a low ring of ebbing setting concrete lace around the glass as it quickly recedes.

It smells of tart red wine vinegar, a subtle dried prune fruitiness, pleasantly even farmhouse funk, sharp lemon rinds, dry yeast, a rather subdued pale grainy malt, and understated earthy, woodsy, and leafy hops. The taste is more pungently bitter and sour acetic acid-soaked oaken wood, seriously unripe plums (or perhaps lemon - it's a bit hard to tell), gritty pale and wheaty malt, soft notes of horse blanket funk, and weak earthy, musty hops.

The carbonation is softly prickly, but generally agreeable and supportive, the body medium-light in weight, and smooth in an aerosol frothy sort of way. It finishes still good 'n tart and meekly fruity, which is more than most examples of this subset of the style exhibit.

One more or less well balanced fruit lambic - the guest star doing enough to offset the still heady tart and funky character. It was a bit of a challenge to chase this one down, and as the end cap of my last shopping day of this 2013 Yuletide season, it was totally worth it, I think. Naw, watch me be able to get this at the better bottleshops in the New Year at half the price, the idea of which thankfully doesn't detract too much from the quality or the atmosphere right now.
