You will not find any preservatives in this thirst quenching ale. But additives? That's a different story, as each brew of Wild Rose WRaspberry Ale is infused with thousands of natural, juicy-red additives called raspberries.

Appearance: peach colored. Pours with little head, just a pop-like fizz. Really looks like peach spritzer. Kind of fitting, considering it's a refreshment brew.

Smell: Light and floral. Almost a rose and raspberry aroma. Not too over the top with the raspberries as there is definitely still a little malt in there to keep it smelling like beer.

Taste: Very light for an ale. Crisp and refreshing biscuity flavors dominated by the fruitiness of roses and raspberries. I appreciate the subdued nature of this raspberry ale as a lot of times, breweries put the flavors a bit over the top.

Mouthfeel: Good overall. A little prickly carbonation which lends itself well to the refreshment value of this beer. Again, not over the top so you're not burping every ten seconds while enjoying it.

Overall: I really like Wild Rose's interpretation of the WRaspberry Ale! Great refreshment value, and you aren't blown away by raspberry nectar. Top quality raspberry ale.

Off gold, 1 inch of pinkish white head in pint glass, slight lacing.

Grey / Brown chunks of (raspberry?) floating around left a 'dirty' feel to the pour and marred the head. Raspberry flavour for sure, but predominantly in the palate backed by light malt and wheat flavours.

Musty, mildewy odour pervaded the nose. Like the cardboard the raspberries were shipped in. Cardboard and funk. Didn't hold up well at all. Really, I should have rated lower, because I dumped it.

Poured a Coopers Wheat Ale homebrew that made my mouth feel better after.

A: Golden with a slight hue of ambery copper, bit white cap of foam that start to settle right away. Bright & clear with lots of bubbles. Some splotches of lace.

S: Basic wheat beer base. Raspberries for sure. I think they used the real thing – rounded with a fair bit of berry tartness. Good strength & pleasant fruit beer.

T: Grainy, pale, & slightly wheaty base. Raspberry seems very real – rounded, a tad bit of tartness and bite – and not all syrupy & cloying. Perhaps the barest hint of diacetyl. No hops.

M: A tad under medium body. Carbonation is a little bit over being balanced. Minimal sweetness or other textures but there is a little bit. Finish actually goes a tad drying & refreshing.

D: Not remarkable, but a very reasonable & drinkable raspberry fruit beer. Basic but tasty & very solid fruit beer.

341ml bottle poured into a 16oz pint glass.

A - Pours with a fizzy white head and clean copper hue with a pinkish tinge. No head retention, and no lacing.

S - Barley malt and mild tart raspberries. I'll give this one credit, this smells like actual fruit to me, and not an artificial flavor. Sort of like raspberry jam with 2-row and flaked wheat. The fruity character here is surprisingly pleasant and inviting.

T - Light malt upfront with just a moment of raspberry flavor in the finish before it disappears into an aftertaste of light bready malt, wheat, and barley. While the raspberries taste like actual raspberries, they feel a bit too sweet and not tart enough. Overall this is incredibly light with a refreshing feel and subtle fruitiness.

M - Light body with carbonation on the high end. Borders on fizzy, but nothing too inappropriate for the style I suppose.

D - Miles ahead of GIB's False Creek Raspberry mess, but an unspectacular beer nonetheless. I also appreciate the use of actual raspberries and having this beer actually reflect the profile of an ale to some extent. I basically just expected an artificially sweetened lager that would be consumed exclusively on the patios of Southern Alberta, but I can actually see myself trying this one again.

Red copper appearance that's slightly cloudy with a small amount of head leaving some lacing. Smell consists of raspberries, wheat, malt with a hint bread and peaches.

Taste consists mainly of raspberries along with a hint of malt, wheat, floral hops and bread. Very light tasting overall and bitter. Light bodied with low carbonation. Aftertaste is a longer dry berry taste.

Not a bad fruit beer, although the taste could use more of a kick to it (thought I would be blasted with berries), it's refreshing, drinkable and not to fruity. Worth a try.
