Dark brown and ruby hued, this ale expresses notes of espresso and chocolate. Very approachable, Wild Rose Brown Ale is mildly hopped with a medium body and a clean finish. Don't be afraid of the dark. Get down with the Brown.

Fairly dark brown, can be seen through. A fairly fast pour generated very little head, and that faded to a ring rather quickly.
Smell of toasted grains and caramel. Faint coffee aroma hides underneath.
Caramel is apparent right up front, and carries most of the flavour for the front half of the mouth. Further back toasted malt and a subtle herbal hop flavour finish things off. Nuttiness and coffee show more and more as the beer warms, filling out the flavour.
The body is a bit oily, and carbonation is on the lower side. Reasonable mouthfeel.
Like most browns, this goes down rather easy. Smooth all around, not a bad beer.

I first enjoyed this brew during an Elvis Costello concert in Calgary, Alberta. As an avid coffee lover I enjoyed the hints of espresso. Combined with some vanilla/chocolatey(???) notes, I was very pleased with the local dark brown beverage.
