12oz bottle poured into a Greenbush snifter.

The beer pours a medium amber color, hues of copper and orange when held to the light with about 2 fingers of soft, bone colored head that lingers nicely and leaves a good amount of sticky lace behind. The aroma is of soft, sweet caramel malt, light wheat and pale grain, a bit of spice, like nutmeg or allspice, just a kiss of bitter, earthy hop spice. It's simple, soft, sweet without being sugary and has a nice rustic quality. The flavors are right in line, lots of caramel malt, brown sugar, nutmeg, wheat is nicely integrated, mingles well with the richer malt bill and just a touch of hoppy bitterness and earthy quality. The mouthfeel is nice, coats the mouth well, light carbonation, rich texture, smooth feel with a crisp finish that is just lightly dry.

Verdict: One of the better beers in the wheat/amber ale category I've tried to date. It's soft, smooth, rustic, and more importantly it's very easy to drink. This really hit the spot on a cool fall day.

Great, great lacing, constant, fast, and even carbonation. Foamy white head becomes a ring and light blanket. Penny-copper in color.

Caramely, toasty smell. A sip reveals a nice complexity that the light aroma didn't lead me to expect- nice clean malted wheat and an interesting hoppiness- clean and spicy like a good czech pils. Mmmm.

Mouthfeel is nice- full and round but clean, with just a little hoppy linger. It's easy to drink but relatively filling and creamy.

This is a beer outside the boxes, an awesome standby that's always available from this brewery. One of the reasons I'm a true GB fanboy. Wonderful next to a bowl of red chili.
